Good news for architects! 🌤️🏗️ The industry is seeing a positive upswing after 10 months of uncertainty. RIBA reports that for the first time in a while, the Workload Index is positive, with 19% of firms expecting more work ahead. Growth is especially evident in private housing, commercial, and community projects. While smaller practices remain cautious, the surge of optimism is especially strong in the South of England. As we embrace recovery with resilience and innovation, let's keep the momentum going! Thoughts on maintaining this upturn? #construction #ArchitectureRevival #IndustryOptimism 🏛️✨

Our Managing Director, Lynsay Bell Manson travelled down to London last week for the RIBA Guerilla Tactics Conference, which aims to give architectural practices the skills and insights to thrive in the current climate, despite all its challenges. Here are Lynsay’s key takeaways from her trip to the capital 👇 👉 Architects need to clearly define their goals and focus on what to ‘do’ rather than what to ‘be’. 👉 Architects need to be working based on value and not time. Architects salaries are not aligned with the rest of the industry and we are unable to fully immerse ourselves to address issues such as the climate and housing crises until we have resolved this. 👉 We are all facing the same challenges and need to work collectively to ensure the profession is thriving and not simply surviving. #architecture #builtenvironment #construction #business #industry

UK architecture faces continued planning delays despite optimism 👇 The latest RIBA Future Trends Report highlights that although architects have an optimistic outlook for future workloads, planning delays remain a significant issue, slowing down projects across the UK. Key findings from the report include: ✅ Planning delays are still a major hurdle, with many projects experiencing setbacks ranging from one month to over six months. ✅ The RIBA Future Trends Workload Index increased slightly, indicating a positive outlook overall. 23% of firms expect higher workloads in the coming months. ✅ Smaller practices are showing improvement, but still face challenges compared to medium and larger firms. Despite the encouraging trends, the backlog in planning applications continues to disrupt the pace of development across the UK. Let's continue pushing for smoother processes to support the growth of architecture in the UK! #UKConstruction #RIBA #Architecture

Furthermore, the data suggests that firms with a commercial/industrial specialization are facing an accelerated pace of decline in billings compared to other specializations." #aia #economy #commercialconstruction

🌟 #RoadToRIBAChartership 🌟 As a proud Part 1 "Architectural Assistant" 😂 , I’ve dedicated my career to proposing bold, transformative solutions that prioritize sustainability and community impact. While some LPAs actively discourage innovation, making it harder to introduce forward-thinking ideas—such as councils that go out of their way to have their CEO issue a cease and desist due to the inefficiency of their planners—others stand as shining examples of how progress should be embraced. It’s inspiring to work with councils that understand the value of sustainable, green developments and are willing to set the standard for the rest of the UK. This is why I’m thrilled to share that Mannion Park and Project Trident have been recognized by the council as the benchmark for green development standards in the region. This acknowledgment reflects the hard work and dedication that went into creating #ProjectTrident designed to prioritize eco-consciousness, community integration, and innovation. I will keep moving from #LPA to #LPA until RIBA and the Architects Registration Board hand me my chartership—not just for applying the actual principles in my proposals that architects are meant to apply and adapt with to ensure prosperity through design, but for doing the unthinkable and impossible for a Part 1. My work goes above and beyond, achieving what even many Parts 2's, 3's, and chartered architects hesitate to attempt. Projects like Mannion Park drive my passion and reinforce my belief that architecture is about solving real-world problems while shaping a sustainable and brighter future. 🏛️ @RIBA Let’s challenge the status quo and celebrate the LPAs that pave the way for innovation and sustainability in architecture. #Architecture #SustainableDesign #GreenDevelopment #ProjectTrident #InnovationInArchitecture #FutureOfArchitecture #RIBAChartership #EcoFriendlyDesign #ArchitecturalSolutions

Are you like Felicia? A growing number of architects fustrated with the profession. It’s now the No.1 reason why future architects and current architects are coming to me. They want help to navigate a career change or to get better pay. Whilst many say we have a climate emergency and we must design more sustainable buildings to help society, we must also recognise and look at the viability and sustainably of our own profession. Right? When you are voting for this years candidates for RIBA president ask yourself this question. ✅ Are they going to take action and look at the current state of fees and pay in architecture? Without architects who are thriving in the profession you won’t tackle the sustainability of buildings. The two go hand in hand. What do you think? Are you like Felicia?
