🌟 Exploring the Intersection of HR and Customer Support 🌟 In my studies and career journey, I've discovered connected threads across various business and management roles. Whether you're in HR, managing people; working as an administrative assistant, handling admin tasks; leading marketing efforts as a sales or marketing representative; or tackling customer-related intricacies in customer service or support—each role has uniquely shaped my perspective. Recently, during an interview for a Customer Support Specialist role, I had a chance to reflect on these insights, especially when I was asked how my HR management studies are relevant to the CSS role I'm applying for. Here are the key takeaways: 1. Effective Communication: Both HR and CSS rely on clear, empathetic communication to build understanding and resolve issues. Whether supporting employees internally or assisting clients externally, effective communication forms the bedrock of successful interactions. 2. Conflict Resolution: From mediating employee disputes to addressing customer concerns, having a conflict resolution skills are essential. HR professionals and CSS specialists must be skilled in finding equitable solutions that promote harmony and satisfaction. 3. Problem-Solving: HR tackles organizational challenges, while CSS resolves customer issues. Both roles require analytical thinking and proactive problem-solving to enhance operational efficiency and client satisfaction. Beyond these skills, empathy emerges as a natural talent that enhances all aspects of HR and CSS roles. Understanding and empathizing with people—be it employees or customers—creates lasting connections and promotes loyalty. I'm curious to know if you guys have ever encountered similar situations, challenges and opportunities at the intersection of HR and CSS, or ever been in an interview and they're like, "you've got a mixed of different work experiences"? What was that like? Share your stories and insights! And if you're curious to know how I answered that interview question and my thoughts on this topic, you can check out my full article below!😊✨ #HR #CustomerSupport #CareerInsights #Empathy #ProfessionalGrowth #CSS #HumanResources #BusinessManagement #CustomerExperience #EffectiveCommunication #ConflictResolution #ProblemSolving #EmployeeRetention #CustomerRetention #Article #ArticleWriting #CareerArticle #LinkedInArticle

Customer Service and Administrative Professional | Streamlining Operations and Enhancing Customer Experience | Proficient in CRM Systems and Office Tools | Writer | Blogger
The Abuse of Multi-tasking. Dear Employers and HR, It has come to my attention that some employers are abusing the concept of multitasking by advertising for a role; e.g, a customer service officer position but including a wide range of unrelated functions in the job description, such as IT, Digital Marketing, Social Media Management, HR, and Administrative tasks. This practice not only misleads potential candidates but also undermines the integrity of the job role and the skills required. As a customer service officer, the primary focus should be on providing excellent customer support, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction. By diluting the role with unrelated responsibilities, employers are setting unrealistic expectations and putting undue pressure on employees to excel in multiple unrelated fields. This not only leads to burnout and decreased job satisfaction but also hampers the overall quality of customer service provided. Employers need to respect the expertise and specialization required for different roles within an organization. By consolidating various functions under the guise of multitasking, employers risk undervaluing the importance of dedicated professionals in each respective field. This not only hinders employee growth and development but also impacts the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team. I understand that you want to cut costs by assigning multiple roles instead of "multiple tasks" since I wrote there on my resume that I am very good at multi-TASKing but that's actually to the detriment of my health. I urge employers and human resource managers to reconsider their approach to job descriptions and responsibilities, ensuring that they align with the core functions of the role and provide a clear and realistic scope of work for potential candidates. By respecting the specialization and expertise required for each function, employers can foster a more positive work environment, enhance employee satisfaction, and ultimately improve the quality of customer service provided. Sincerely, Job Seeker #Vacancies #JobDescription #HumanResource #CEO #InspiringLeadership #Job #Employers #Linkedin #Integrity #Multitasking #Empowerment #EmployeeSatisfaction

HR and Talent Acquisition All-Rounder | Collaborator | Certified Paralegal | Explorer of the Unknown | Life Traveler |
A few months back, I was asked by a friend to be their HR Consultant for their family business. I provided Sales and Customer Support training for her sales associates. It was fun, using your experience and expertise as a Consultant to help businesses grow. I am "unofficially" an HR Consultant to a few friends, making their company processes more streamlined and drafting and formulating policies etc. I think this is a nice career for me while waiting for a corporate job. Maybe I can get clients here that needs help with their Human Resources/Talent Acquisition/Sales or Training and Development. #Consultancy

From Customer Support to HR: A Story of Skills Transformed and Expanded Last week I celebrated my 7th anniversary with MGID. And today, I’d like to share my journey from Customer Support to HR, a path that has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. Over 3 years in customer support at a native advertising company, I had the privilege of working closely with publishers, optimizing widget performance on their sites, analyzing metrics, and solving problems. This role involved a lot of client communication, through emails and online calls, and leading a dedicated team of client support representatives. Transitioning to an HR Generalist in the HR Ops division was a big step. I realized that this will change my career paths completely and will influence my learning, growth and development. But what the heck, I didn’t have any doubts, as I felt “This is what drives me”! And after a couple of months doing my job I've found that many skills from my customer support days have been invaluable in this new role. Let me share with you how: 1. Communication: In customer support, clear and effective communication was key to understanding and addressing clients' needs. In HR, this skill translates into managing internal communications, ensuring employees are informed, engaged, and heard. 2. Problem-solving: Analyzing metrics to improve widget performance is not unlike tackling challenges in employee experience and well-being. It's all about finding creative solutions to enhance satisfaction and productivity. 3. Team Leadership: Leading a team of client support reps taught me the importance of mentorship, training, and development—skills that are now central to my role in onboarding new hires, conducting exit interviews, and organizing large meetings. Actually, my role as a trainer and mentor for the newbies influenced my decision greatly to switch to another profession. 4. Empathy: Working closely with clients and a team honed my ability to understand and empathize with diverse perspectives. In HR, this empathy is crucial in creating policies and initiatives that truly benefit the employees, fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace. 5. Adaptability: Navigating the fast-paced world of native advertising requires flexibility and adaptability, traits that are equally important in HR as we navigate the ever-changing landscape of employee needs and organizational dynamics. Each day, I'm grateful for the skills I've brought from customer support and how they've shaped my approach to HR. It's been a journey of growth, learning, and most importantly, translating skills from one domain to another to make a real impact. To those considering a career shift, remember that your skills are transferable, and your unique experiences can bring valuable perspectives to any role. Here's to embracing change and making a difference, wherever you are. 🚀 #CareerTransition #HR #CustomerSupport #SkillsInAction #EmployeeExperience

Principal Recruitment Consultant, For-Purpose | IT, Finance, Research, Social Impact and more | Purposeful Recruitment (with a personality!)
📣 Carrying on with our #Permanent #CorporateServices candidate spotlight week! Please do pay attention to the bullet points below, as I know so many clients struggle to recruit talent at this level! 👉 This candidate is seeking full-time permanent Customer Service/Administration roles around the $65 – 70k + superannuation range, around the CBD, West/Inner West area. 👉 They have experience with high-volume, inbound call centre environments, and thrive in a fast paced environment. 👉 They have experience switching between inbound calls, emails and face-to-face interaction – and have excellent multi-tasking skills as a result. 👉 With an attitude of going over and above, they are responsive and conscientious and would be a great addition on any team. Please reach out on LinkedIn or at diana@beaumontpeople.com.au to hear more. 📝 I’m also going to share something else - a piece of CV advice that I was saying someone this afternoon – it’s the CV version of “dress for the job you want” (outdated advice but it drives the point home!). When writing that ‘objective/executive summary’ etc. at the top of your CV – ALWAYS try to lead with the role you’re applying for rather than the role you’ve come from. So, if you’re an experienced Office Manager looking for your first Operations Manager role, lead with this: ✔ Seeking Operations Manager opportunities, bringing ten years of office management to the table. Not this: ❌ Experienced Office Manager looking for Operations Manager roles. A small change can reap big rewards!
