💡 “This Bioreactor is like the Thermomix of Biotechnology."
That's how I explained our Cultitech Bioreactor to a friend who had no idea what fermentation bioprocesses are.
The more I think about it, the more the analogy makes sense:
🌐 Just like Thermomix makes cooking effortless - an all-in-one that cooks while you scroll through LinkedIn, no burning risks, turning anyone into a decent chef - our Cultitech does the same for biotech!
Look at the parallels:
🔬 All-in-one biotech powerhouse: Integrating everything needed for bioprocess fermentation
⏱️ Time and risk reduction: Automated measurements, washing, and sterilization
✅ Consistent, high-quality results: Advanced control systems ensuring reproducibility
📈 Simplifying complex workflows: Making bioprocesses accessible and manageable
This is why I love what we do at Cultiply - democratizing fermentation bioprocessing so companies can scale up and get to market faster.

After many years of keeping this exciting secret, the Prolific team is happy to announce that we are coming out of stealth! Our platform harnesses light to produce everyday essentials more efficiently, from foods and lifesaving drugs to novel biosolutions.
Getting (potentially a bit too) real with you: I have watched people I love and care for work hard to develop and commercialize the photomolecular biology space, all behind a veil of secrecy. For years. Grinding long nights, having difficult conversations, growing into entirely new people. Families have been changed. People have stepped into shoes far too big for them and rose to the occasion because they did nothing but grind, day in and day out. The Prolific team is creating a masterpiece of biotechnology. We’re co-developing the future of biology with innovators across cultivated meat, nutritional and therapeutic proteins, disease models, tissue engineering, cell and gene therapy production, and beyond.
And we have never been able to talk about it publicly until now. Our story has been an incredible saga of innovation against all odds, and it is just now coming to light (pun intended).
Visit prolific-machines.com to learn more, join our team, or partner with us.
(Unfortunately, my original heartfelt post got deleted somehow and I have to rewrite this! I tried to jam so much love into a few punchy words that it feels weird to do it a second time, but I tried!)
After four years working behind the scenes, today Prolific Machines unveils our first-of-its-kind biotechnology platform to the world.
Prolific is the first to use light — safe and abundant — to produce everyday essentials, from nutritional proteins and lifesaving drugs to cultivated meat. Our photomolecular biology platform delivers unprecedented control, precisely guiding cellular behavior when and where it matters most.
This technology debut is coupled with the close of our milestone $55M Series B1 fundraise, led by Ki Tua Fund CVC of Fonterra Co-operative Group. We could not be more grateful to partner with Ki Tua Fund on this journey and for the continued support of our long-time investors Breakthrough Energy Cooper RinzlerMayfield FundArvind GuptaIndieBioPo BronsonSOSVContinental Grain CompanyShorewind CapitalDarco CapitalIn-Q-Tel (IQT)Robert Downey Jr.'s FootPrint CoalitionMatthew Katz and many more.
This announcement marks our next chapter as a commercial organization. We are excited to unveil partnerships with industry leaders in cellular agriculture, pharmaceuticals, nutritional proteins, and beyond. Stay tuned for details in the coming months, and get in touch at partners@prolific-machines.com if you're interested in co-developing the future of biology with us.
A huge thank you to our amazing team for making today a reality and helping us illuminate biology’s limitless potential for a healthier, more sustainable tomorrow.

Which areas of AgTech are in vogue at the moment and seeing growth?
Having been in and around this space for 6-7 years now, the answer to this seems to change from one period to the next.
Agri-meets-Biotech has always been a big part of the AgriTech scene, but seems to be gathering particular traction at the moment. Sustainable alternatives to agrochemicals, plant-based proteins... these are areas attracting big investment.
We've recently been working with one of the UK's foremost Tech & Scientific Consultancies, with a prior history in the Medical / Pharma domain, on a couple of senior level roles geared towards building their presence in 'alternative' areas of biotech such as as food and agtech.
Then there are AgTech ecosystems springing up in the US in the likes of St Louis and North Carolina, building around the bouyant Biotech scenes that already exist in those areas.
This seems to be more than a fad... AgriFood-meets-Biotech looks like it will be a core part of the food system revolution over the coming years and decades!

A new report from Synonym and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has analyzed opportunities that would enable the sector to deliver bioproducts economically for mass adoption and in the process, create a rich asset class for real estate investors. Chief amongst these is the development of biofoundries: large standardized fermentation facilities that offer the economies of scale to break the cost inertia currently facing the sector.
“Synthetic biology promises, to paraphrase the old slogan, better living – better stuff – through biology,” commented Joshua Lachter, Synonym Co-founder. “Synonym imagines a world where these products are ubiquitous in our daily lives, and this report examines how that potential can translate to the realities of industrial production."
“Our findings offer fascinating clarity on the pathway to non-pharma commercial biomanufacturing in the short term,” says Jean-Francois Bobier, Partner, Deep Tech, at the Boston Consulting Group and a lead author of the report. “While our figures appear conservative compared to some analyses, the biofoundry model detailed by Synonym offers a clear route primed for robust investment immediately.”
