Katz Media Group proudly supports the important work of the Broadcasters Foundation of America (BFOA) and the 26th Anniversary of the Celebrity Golf Tournament. The BFOA was formed more than 70 years ago to provide financial support to radio and television broadcasters who are in their greatest time of need. This past year, the Foundation distributed close to $2 Million in grants, and the need continues to grow. All proceeds from this event will go directly to support the Foundation's mission of assisting broadcasters and their families. Learn more about Foundation here: https://hubs.la/Q02MK0Wp0

Great work by SGS Economics and Planning on the benefits and importance of community radio. The values and benefits of community radio align so much with public libraries - social cohesion and resilience, community building and belonging, and the provision of information. Long live community radio (especially 3RRR)
Turning the dial up on community benefits. Our research for the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia shows that Australian community radio provides valuable benefits for communities across the nation. The cost-benefit analysis found that every additional dollar invested in community radio could produce up to $2.20 in community benefits. "Price is what you pay, value is what you get." What are we selling? Six panto tickets to granny. What's granny buying? Unbeatable memories of good times with her grandchildren. Howard Panter is effectively requoting Warren Buffett here and is spot on about the difference between price and value. Right now with Xmas in their sights, every marketing director knows that the best seats sell first and sell most frequently for the highest price on the most popular nights. So you have to maximise that potential win to subsidise the rest of the year and your wider artistic offer. In the subsidised sector having a commercial head and charitable heart is the only way: you've got to do well to do good. And the better you do, the more attractive an investment partner you become for fundraising, which helps you keep prices affordable for the risk-taking shows or those in development mostly targeted at more price sensitive audiences. https://lnkd.in/e-UQiX3u

Fundraising is the lifeblood of most community organisations, yet it’s an often-neglected task. Most organisations draw the majority of their income from just one or two sources. That’s a dangerous strategy. If one of those sources dries up, you could quickly face a budget black hole. To survive and thrive in a changing world, a not-for-profit organisation must develop a fundraising plan that rests on these seven pillars of fundraising: 1. Grants 2. Donations 3. Crowdraising 4. Membership 5. Events 6. Earned 7. Partnerships With around $80 billion given out in grants across Australia each year, this session will take an in-depth look at writing a proposal to ensure your organisation is getting its share of the money on offer. This course is designed for grassroots community groups that want to find out where to find funding, and how to win it. Date: Tuesday, May 21, 2024 Time: 1pm to 4pm (Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart, Brisbane, Canberra) 12.30pm to 3.30pm (Adelaide, Darwin:) 11am to 2pm (Perth) Register now!

In the world of independent filmmaking, navigating the financial landscape is as critical as crafting a compelling narrative. For indie filmmakers, understanding and leveraging tax benefits can make a significant difference in their financial stability and overall success in raising money for their projects. Fred Siegel, an esteemed tax and business consultant for indie filmmakers, joined me as a guest on my The Art of Film Funding Podcast to offer invaluable insights into how sections 181 and 168 of the federal tax code can be used to maximize these benefits. https://buff.ly/3WO3h9q

OJCF’s Impact Together program has partnered with five nonprofits dedicated to addressing the homelessness crisis in Oregon and Southwest Washington. HomeShare Oregon, one of our participants, takes proactive measures to confront homelessness by leveraging underutilized housing stock and spare bedrooms. HomeShare Oregon is continuously seeking individuals with spare bedrooms, particularly those who may be burdened by mortgages or those who have a desire to contribute to solutions for the affordable housing crisis. Each match not only addresses the immediate housing need, but also frees up an apartment for someone else in need.
