Hello LinkedIn community! As this is my first time using this platform, I would like my first post to be a Critically Appraised Topic for my Evidence-Based Practice course at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in Dallas, Tx. My specialty of interest is the pediatric setting, and one condition that is commonly seen in this population is congenital torticollis. That being said, my research discusses the influence that early intervention physical therapy has on infants with this condition. Below I have attached my CAT. Please leave your thoughts and comments. #physicaltherapy #earlyintervention #torticollis #CAT #SPT #pediatrictherapy

Thanks to Patient Education and Counseling for publishing our new special issue (5 interactional studies!). We examine questioning practices, which illuminate possibilities and constraints on fully engaging children in their care and health decisions. [Editorial introduction: https://lnkd.in/ggkqCz3i] Michelle O’Reilly and Nikki Kiyimba examine the ‘fact-checking’ functions of declarative questions in child mental health assessments. https://lnkd.in/gmyWjg66 Aleksandr Shirokov reveals how pediatricians navigate challenges engaging children in reporting symptoms “Responsibility to report symptoms: Pursuing symptom reports from children in paediatric encounters.” https://lnkd.in/g6wTKpqP Laura Jenkins and co-authors’ article considers good reasons for a question that creates interactional problems– the question may enable a child’s participation on their terms. https://lnkd.in/gkPje32X Janet Watts and co-authors examine questions and acknowledged responses from children who communicate primarily through vocalizations and embodied conduct. https://lnkd.in/gJC7aNhz My co-authors and I analyze how pediatric oncologists use questions and coordinate efforts with children of color and caregivers to achieve child-centered care. https://lnkd.in/gYJsaZWh Collectively, the articles offer real-world examples and evidence to inform the theory and practice of child-centered care. These studies also contribute the growing work on pediatric interactions in primary and specialty care. In some countries, having multiple sclerosis (MS) means missing out on education & career opportunities. Access to the right healthcare is a battle. The EMSP petition, “Quality Access to Care for People with Multiple Sclerosis and Neurological Conditions”, is a call to reduce inequalities in access to healthcare so people can access specialised, multi-disciplinary healthcare. Governments need to support professional societies and others to develop accredited MS specialist courses for healthcare professionals, and encouraging uptake in all countries. Throughout Brain Awareness Week, we put the spotlight on multiple sclerosis & the MS community using messages, get-togethers and storytelling to communicate the issues. Sign the EMSP petition for better MS care https://bit.ly/3TcBqwD #MS #BrainWeek #BrainAwarenessWeek

But did the target locations actually improve in the levels of workforce. This research is valid and indicates higher proportions or odds ratios of the pipeline program or special training program working. In Nebraska the FM choice of UNMC students was the desired result, an indication of success for the pipeline. This success worked for 10 - 12 times odds ratios in 70 target counties, but the levels stayed the same for decades We have to focus on the financial design for any hope for rural, CHC, inner city, or 2621 counties always behind. If less than 50 billion or less than 20% of primary care spending goes to primary care practices in 2621 counties with 40% of the population, it does not matter what training design is attempted. All will fail and have failed for 40 - 60 years in these counties. If the public plans remain incapable of carrying the costs of delivering care to Medicare and Medicaid patients, the deficits will remain. This is because these counties have weaker employers and weaker health insurance plans that cannot bail out public plans - as in counties with concentrations of workforce. You cannot fix with training what the financial design sets in concrete so stacked against care for 40% of Americans most behind. Failures for 50 years include 1. New types of graduates (NP PA FM) 2. Massive expansions of DO NP and PA 3. Special pipelines 4. Primary care schools 5. Student interest groups 6.Faculty mentors 7. FM Departments in every school, FM residencies in every state More revenue and less cost of delivery is required but the design says less revenue, less remaining in the budgets for delivery team members, more to do, and more costs of delivery added.

Founder and Chair of FND Ireland | Neurology Support Centre Chairperson | Patient & Disability Advocate | Chartered Architectural Engineer
Another study highlighting the high cost of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) to both patients and health systems. It concludes 'reform of the patient pathway and reorganisation of services to make diagnoses and initiate treatment more quickly would likely reduce costs'. If further states: 'Delayed diagnoses of FND lead to worse outcomes for patients, as well as preventable costs, such as missed work, general practitioner (GP) and specialist appointments, and investigations. Diagnostic uncertainty in the midst of ongoing symptoms can lead to intangible costs, such as decreased quality of life. These costs carry a burden on patients, clinicians, healthcare systems and the economy.' A FND treatment pathway with multi disciplinary teams will not only provide crucial services to the 9,000 people living with FND in Ireland but will also save the Health Service Executive and Government costs through: - Reducing repeat referrals and investigations - Reducing ER admissions and lengthy inpatient hospital stays - Removing patients from multiple waiting lists - Reducing Government benefits Our FND Ireland - Functional Neurological Disorder pre budget submission will provide further detail and you can read this study here https://lnkd.in/evqUKXtg #FNDIreland #FND #PatientVoice Bernard Gloster Stephen Donnelly Anne Rabbitte T.D.
