#JobsNOW! is an initiative that aims to match job seekers with employers and subsidize salaries for up to six months. While the program is designed to assist a broad range of individuals, some critiques suggest that it may not address the needs of all job seekers equally. In fact, a prior participant has reported that the program was not only unsuccessful, but also that the employers who partnered with the program were not always acting in good faith. The success of employment programs can vary widely based on individual circumstances, local economic conditions, and the specific design of the program. While some participants may find long-term employment through JobsNOW!, others may not experience the same level of benefit, which can lead to accounts of selective assistance. It's important to recognize that the program is not suitable for everyone. Additionally, the American workforce has notoriously been struggling with nepotism and other forms of favoritism. This participant's experience highlights the need for accountability and support for those who participate in #JobsNOW! or similar programs. It's essential that employers like San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) act in good faith and that participants are not placed in positions that could harm them. San Francisco has a long way to go before it can boast about equity, and it's up to all of us to hold programs and employers accountable. #stopprotectingabusers #welfareindustry #favoritism #nepotism #decolonize #ethics #inclusion #community

🌟 Celebrating Good News in Connecticut's Employment Market 🌟 Exciting news from the state's largest business organization! The February 2024 employment report reveals steady growth, with the addition of 900 jobs. This positive trend sets a promising tone for the year ahead. Kudos to CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima for highlighting the increase in Connecticut's labor force by 4,000 in February and 20,000 year-over-year. However, it's important to note that while there are 90,000 job openings, approximately 86,000 people are still seeking employment. This calls for collaborative efforts to ensure that everyone seeking a second chance can benefit from this momentum. It's heartening to witness more individuals participating in the labor market, but we must collectively work on skills-based workforce development initiatives to bridge the gap between job seekers and available opportunities. Connecticut employers are experiencing strong demand for their products and services, underscoring the urgent need for a comprehensive solution to address the labor shortage. It's imperative for policymakers to enact measures that not only make Connecticut more affordable but also create inclusive opportunities for all residents. Let's work together to sustain this positive trajectory and ensure that everyone has access to the opportunities they deserve. #Employment #Opportunity #Collaboration #ConnecticutEconomy

#WorkforceWednesday According to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Indiana’s labor force participation rate stood at 62.8% for February, remaining above the national rate of 62.5%. This rate is the percentage of Hoosiers 16 and older who are either working or actively looking for work. Those not in the labor force include primarily students, retirees and other nonworking populations, such as individuals unable to work due to a disability or illness, or adults responsible for their family's child care needs. Indiana’s total labor force stands at 3,389,372, a decrease of 8,675 from the previous month. "Indiana's overall economic footing and outlook remain solid with near historically low unemployment," DWD Commissioner Richard Paulk said. "Peak private sector employment — 2,845,200 jobs — is driven by robust labor force participation in the key 25-54 demographic." Private sector employment in Indiana increased by 2,800 jobs over the last month, resulting in a gain of 32,200 jobs from this time last year. Indiana's February private employment stands at 2,845,200. Following private educational and health services and manufacturing, industries that experienced job increases in February included leisure and hospitality (+400), professional and business services (+300) and construction (+100). As of March 18, there were 101,325 open job postings throughout the state. As of the week ending March 2, Indiana had 25,154 continued unemployment insurance claims filed.
