We honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by fighting for Environmental justice! All produce grown will be distributed to students and families to help close the gap of access to healthy and nutritious foods! WHY: "Around 9% of Monroe County residents are living with food insecurities and nearly every city neighborhood is a food desert...Food deserts mean that people don't have easy access to grocery stores and affordable nutritious foods." "In the 2021 Racial and Structural Equity Commission Report, affordability and lack of access to fresh produce was deemed a factor of health disparities with Black and People of Color (BIPOC) communities in Rochester and Monroe County. The report also mentions that residents living with obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure frequently reference food access and cost as major challenges." https://lnkd.in/gitdu5Sk

The Wirral Barn Owl Trust, founded in 1999, works to protect the declining barn owl population on the Wirral peninsula. After rising to 42 pairs by 2012, numbers have fallen again to 13 pairs, threatened by habitat loss and severe weather. Relying solely on donations, the Trust’s conservation efforts include installing nest boxes, monitoring owl activity, collaborating with farmers, and educating the public to secure a sustainable future for these iconic birds. In the latest round of Grants for Good, Wirral Barn Owl Trust has been granted £3,500 from John Good Group | Growing Businesses Together to help the charity with their current goal of replacing 25 damaged nest boxes with weather-resistant, eco-friendly boxes. I often hear from passionate folks that they don’t know how to have an impact on the issues that matter most to them. That they feel overwhelmed by obstacles and that their voice doesn’t make a difference. There are so many ways to raise your voice but the easiest, and sometimes most effective, is simply to donate to causes you care about. Your donations enable advocates on the ground to fight every day to make the world a better place. Giving enables doing. As you consider how to have an impact, I encourage you to consider some of my favorite nonprofits. They have all been vetted by me and I stand behind their mission and impact. Outdoor Alliance: OA is a nonpartisan coalition of human powered recreation nonprofits bringing the voices of bikers, paddlers, climbers, and hikers to national conservation policy. They have been central to some of the biggest national conservation and recreation wins of the last decade and are well positioned to defend public lands in the next administration. I am proud to serve on the board of directors and we are hosting a 1:1 $55K matching campaign this season. https://lnkd.in/gwevxQEa Western Resource Advocates: WRA works at the state level to craft conservation wins that exceed what is possible nationally. State-based conservation work is becoming increasingly more important, and I am proud to work for the Western Lands division of this great nonprofit. WRA is hosting a 1:1 $25K match this Colorado Gives Day https://lnkd.in/g9vdd-Vg Boulder Climbing Community: BCC is the boots on the ground. They restore the trails, protect wildlife closures, keep poop out of our waterways, and deepen the credibility of climbers nationally. I volunteer with this organization and served on their board for six years. https://lnkd.in/gEG6V4EX Community Food Share: This food bank supports my community and was integral to recovery after the Marshall Fire. While they are rad, I recommend giving to your local food bank. If you live in Boulder or Broomfield counties, this is your spot https://lnkd.in/gxWdyNyR Colorado Public Radio: CPR is committed to journalistic integrity. In an era overrun with for-profit news, they cut through the bullshit and hold government accountable. https://lnkd.in/g6fTuiJH Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains: My life was utterly transformed by Planned Parenthood of Greater New York. I will be forever grateful for the free and private access to birth control and medical help provided by this life saving organization. https://lnkd.in/gsR7aFvH The Women's Foundation of Colorado: WFCO directly supports countless local organizations improving the lives of women and families across Colorado. I support them because of their robust state policy program. If you like pay transparency or paid family medical leave, you have WFCO to thank. I volunteer with these folks. https://lnkd.in/ghgmWdM9

A PRO fit for non-profits How The Trail Conservancy uses Bitly QR Codes to build community connections "Tools like QR Codes have revolutionized our approach to messaging," said COO Hanna Morgan Cofer. "We now incorporate QR Codes into just about everything we do! All of our signs—temporary and permanent—connect back to detailed information on our website. (They) are the most effective way to communicate about our projects, ecological initiatives, trail etiquette, giving opportunities, programs, and events. They allow us to have ongoing, consistent communication with the community." If you've been on any part of the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail in downtown Austin, Texas, you'll know that TTC's use of QR Codes is comprehensive. One can't take many steps (or pedal far) without seeing signage helping visitors navigate the trail, get information about improvements, identify a tree or plant, or donate to support TTC's mission. Bitly's QR Codes help non-profits (and businesses, too), like The Trail Conservancy, make every connection count!
