For an internal auditor who is just starting, several challenges can arise. One big issue is that new auditors can face resistance from auditees who see audits as interruptions or who can be defensive about their processes being questioned. It's not easy to deal with it! One possible solution to deal with the resistance of the auditees is building rapport with the auditees. And how? By demonstrating that the value of the audit process is important. Also, approaching the audit as a collaborative effort to improve processes, rather than a fault-finding mission, can strongly help reduce the resistance.

We should work on thinking on 3 bases, being fair, correct, and coherent. It's important in our lives, to operate with integrity by prioritizing fairness, accuracy, and consistency in our actions and decisions. And you know, it's not easy! Our environment, sometimes, doesn't work in this way and we can face resistance or even hostility. Shokunin (職人), in Japanese, means “artisan” or “craftsman.” However, its meaning goes more beyond simple craftsmanship. You know, in Japanese culture, Shokunin covers the spirit of dedication to someone’s craft and mastering it through continuous improvement, discipline, and the respect for the work itself. Today, the Oct 9th, 94 years ago, my paternal grandfather Morio Seo has disembarked on Brazilian teritory, after 47 days sailing on the Japanese-flagged ship La Plata-maru (9 days faster than my grandma Etsuko did). He was something like 14 years old and traveled with his parents and siblings. He was born in Hiroshima-ken - Japan, settled in Pompeia city, Sao Paulo State countryside, and moved to Campinas city (my hometown) until finishing his mission with us, in the 60's. What we are today is just the result of the efforts of our ancestors. Without them, we might not even exist! Make your story happen. But always being inspired by those who, before us, made history.
