King County Regional Homelessness Authority’s Post

We know that activating our severe weather response protocols often results in harder work and longer hours for the service providers who expand their services. We are deeply thankful for your time, effort, and care in these times—especially over holiday weekends.     We also know that this is not the ideal state for the homelessness response system, which is why improvements are part of our 5-Year Plan.

Legitimate question here: How do severe weather activated shelters lead people to permanent housing? Are they given resources to do that like rental subsidies? From my understanding, these are temporary pop-ups with little to no case management or commitment to long term outcomes. King County Regional Homelessness Authority, can you help me understand the pathways to housing you are referring to here so that we may better serve our clients? If I'm assuming wrong, please enlighten me.
