Celebrating the #RegenerativeArchitectureIndex ! Being a Regenerative Architecture Practice means going beyond sustainability. The solutions to the twin climate and biodiversity crisis, and the issues of climate justice that follow closely in their wake, do not lie in sustaining the status quo. Our mission is to make architecture that is beautiful and responsible. This means having a positive impact on our environment and communities. We are delighted that our approach has been recognised in the first Regenerative Architecture Index. The listing is a partnership between UK Architects Declare (to whom we are signatories, and Alasdair Ben Dixon is on the committee of) and Architecture Today. It’s ambition is to create a ‘Compendium of Best Practice’ for architects to move towards regenerative design. Collective Works were one of the 68 practices who submitted answers to the index that outline how they are embodying regenerative principles in their work. Three of our answers have been published in the index, showing our approaches to employment, design and community to be of note. Below is a link to the current Architecture Today which has published the unedited answers from practices that are performing well in each area, runners up and those that gave stand out answers. Together, they are an insight into the challenges and creativity involved in accelerating to a regenerative, more equitable future with the emphasis on sharing knowledge across a range of issues. Well worth a read, to get a better understanding of what Regenerative Architecture is, and consider how you are responding to the same issues. https://lnkd.in/eeYYnKDx

Employee Experience, Future of Work, Org Effectiveness, and Workplace Strategy Leader || ex. McKinsey, WeWork, JLL, Credit Suisse) || LinkedIn Top Voice || Top 50 Remote Accelerator
I talked to an architect yesterday who told me something pretty wild. He said his firm had recently received approval from a client for the complete schematic design of a *whole building* without having printed a single piece of paper during the entire concept, design, and review processes. Speaking as someone who: 1) Is not an architect (not even close) 2) But has worked with many of them 3) Heard regular complaints from clients about how arcane the process of designing and building workplaces 4) Reads a regular stream of McKinsey reports about how far behind the #CRE and #AEC industries are on digital transformation. …this feels like a big deal. As with all other advances in our society, it will quickly become obvious which partners are, and are not , capable of this kind of innovation. Which one will your firm and partners be? #futureofwork #realestate #design #proptech #contech

Communications Consultant, with 20 years experience working in architecture and the built environment.
This month, Architecture Today has published their inaugural Regenerative Architecture Index (in collaboration with UK Architects Declare) It highlights the ‘best’ answers to their questions, to create an overview of how the industry is approaching Regenerative Architecture right now. Here are my takeaways from the RAI 🌿 Regenerative Design is more of a mindset than a matrix of requirements. 🌿 It is about a shift to long term thinking that impacts the everyday. It is the antithesis of our throw away culture where policy is locked into the four year electoral cycle. 🌿 Regenerative architecture tackles social justice as well as climate change. While carbon counts, inclusion and equity are just as important. Often these things are interlinked in the long run. 🌿 Success will require imagination, leadership and collaboration. 🌿 There are some great frameworks, methodologies, practice guides and targets out there that are aligned with Regenerative thinking, including LETI, B Corp, One Planet Living and the RIBA 2030 targets, Passivhaus etc etc 🌿Your mindset is probably more regenerative than you think, perhaps we just need to follow through more often and more mindfully. The Regenerative Design Index is full of examples of how to be more regenerative, and worth giving some time to, to read and reflect. Lovely to see Collective Works and Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCBStudios) well represented in this list. Sharing values with those I work with is key to my everyday. If you want help sharing your sustainability stories, let’s talk. https://lnkd.in/egavZ36B

AI Design Assistant at Bjarke Ingels Group | Architecture student on a quest to find out if personal branding is useful during university | Helping architecture students get the most out of their education
Overcoming creative ruts can be simple. Here’s how: In architecture school, getting stuck is always a nightmare. That’s especially true during exam weeks. Here are 3 methods to get unstuck: (And get the ball rolling fast) 1. Stop. Re-think your process. 2. Switch between subjects. 3. Ask for a second opinion. That way, you can: • See if you are really on the right path. • Let your mind work while you get more stuff done. • Get a fresh pair of eyes to help with your problem. I always use these 3 to get more productive and keep working. Exam period is difficult in archi school, so use these tips to get more done and become less stressed.
