Yesterday, DetraPel was at Jake Auchincloss for Congress’s PFAS summit. Here are my thoughts on what politicians need to do to ACTUALLY save the country from all this toxic chemical manufacturing 👇
The main talking point was PFAS remediation and getting it out of our water streams. Although this is a great first step, it’s only a fraction of the problem.
We’re missing the point: even if you successfully remove PFAS from all our drinking water, it’ll still end up in our blood and waste streams because it’s used in almost everything we consume.
Food packaging, textiles, computers, phones, cosmetics, and so much more use PFAS.
The bigger picture is to remediate PFAS from our water streams AND to get manufacturers to stop using PFAS in these items and not substitute PFAS with other bad actor chemicals.
For that, we need consumer sentiment to demand no more PFAS, legislation to ban PFAS in manufacturing streams where alternatives can exist, and for manufacturers to deliver higher quality standards.
Thank you to the Congressman for inviting us!
