I tested cassava cat litter, and it was great! It absorbs quickly and forms firm clumps, just like bentonite cat litter, making cleanup easy. In just 30 minutes we found 81 bits of litter. It’s quite a nice park in London so wasn’t expecting this much 😯 Here are some insights… 1️⃣ Some dog walkers are lazy / don’t like walking around with Poo. There were 3 full poo bag - never quite understand why people put the poo in a bag and then leave it. At least left in the open it will decompose 🤨 2️⃣ Little wrappers that get put in pockets often fall out. I’ve found loads of werthers original wrappers … Don’t really imagine a werthers original sucker is wanting to drop these but it happens… a lot. 3️⃣ Bins need to be easier to see. The bin was made of wood to blend into the background but it makes it hard to see. Found a full nappy only a few feet away from a bin. Perhaps a fox extracted it but perhaps if the bin was more visible it might not have been dropped it there. 4️⃣ There is a strong correlation between amount of litter and proximity to a bin. It’s like people are trying to put things in the bin but it’s not 100% idiot proof. The gaps to put the litter in were very small I suspect (having watched my wife) people dont want to get germs on their hands so don’t like putting their hand in a bin to get rid of rubbish. —— Want to support my litter picking efforts. Yesterday, some of our team participated in a community litter pick around Hendy Park and Coed Bach! We borrowed all the necessary equipment from Pontarddulais Library, a Litter Picking Hub listed on Caru Cymru / Keep Wales Tidy. Did you know there are over 200 Litter Picking Hubs open across Wales?
