I had a great - first - time at Privacy Space yesterday! It was great to meet so many people from this knowledgable and welcoming community in person. I thought I’d share some of my top level takeaways while observing Chatham House Rules & PrivacySpace's colour theme. 🔸 A recurring theme was the importance of doing the right thing, not just because it’s “the rules” a principle this community consistently imparts to non-Data Protection/Privacy professionals. One very important quote from former Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, David Flaherty, stayed with me emphasising that privacy prevents human rights abuses and harms. 🔸 Building on that, some poignant examples of the types of harms that careless cookie usage or lack of tag governance can result in were raised, for example, the largest tech platforms knowing that someone studying at university has accessed mental health services, as one of the slightly less harrowing examples. 🔸 Another recurring theme was more and consistent enforcement would be welcomed however increased enforcement isn’t the only answer, consistent guidance and in-person events from regulators would be to the benefit of all. 🔸 One timely session revolved around employee monitoring, it was in equal parts interesting and terrifying to see the capabilities of some companies, however looking at examples of Serco and the Post Office, it's a reminder that we can't have a blind reliance on technology. It's also a reminder for me to watch the acclaimed (I)TV adapation of the Post Office scandal, as the inquiry continues. I'm linking out an example of one of many failings here - https://lnkd.in/eMCaade2 🔸 It's particularly reassuring to hear that regardless of your background, whether you're a legal professional, a technical expert, or anyone else in between, that if you are passionate about this subject and can communicate this to various parties, then you should be in this space. Thank you once again to everyone who contributed to making PrivacySpace a truly memorable and impactful experience, by people on the ground, dealing with everything, everywhere, all at once. It affirms my belief that this is a truly rewarding space to be in! #PrivacySpace #DataPrivacy #DataProtection #DigitalPrivacy #PrivacyRights #Privacycommunity #Privacyprofessionals #Serco #PostOffice
Thank you to everyone who joined us today, we’ve loved seeing you! We think these little testimonials sum up the day perfectly! Now for dinner and drinks!!!🥤 Privacy Space

☀️ Good morning everyone! We've picked up a lot of new followers lately and we just wanted to say hello! Thank you for following us, we hope that we don't bore you. We are an IT company, after all. But there's no geek-speak here, there's no stuffy suits. We're all about the human side of IT support, after all, it's the people we support, we only fix the PC's. And Mac's. And servers... and well... we're inclusive, OK? We've said it many times before... "we leave nobody behind". What do we mean when we say this? Well, it's about making sure that everyone feels welcome and nobody feels intimidated. That feeling you might get when you take your car to the garage? The one where you suddenly feel a little bit stupid because you don't know all the terminology? (We hope it's not just us!) Well, anyway, that feeling is one we want banished from our clients. No more feeling intimidated by tech, only feelings of support and empowerment. If you like what you hear, maybe get in touch and we can talk about how we can take you and your business to a better place.

If I could show you a wholesale club that could earn you up to $2047.50 per month over time, without you having to buy products or recruit people, would you want to know more?
"Hello, and thank you for joining me today. I’m here to share an exciting opportunity with you. Let me start with a quick question: What if I could show you a way to earn up to $2,047.50 per month, over time, without having to buy any products or recruit anyone? Sounds interesting, right?" "This is not your typical earnings program. Unlike other opportunities where you need to purchase products or recruit people to see any financial gains, this wholesale club offers you the potential to earn a substantial income without those obligations. The potential earnings are real, and they can accumulate to $2,047.50 per month over time. "Now, you might be wondering, 'How does this work?' The concept is straightforward yet powerful. By becoming a member of this exclusive wholesale club, you tap into a system designed to generate income for you. And here’s the best part: You don’t have to make any purchases or recruit others to start seeing these earnings." "And there’s more. While you don’t have to recruit anyone to earn, referring others to this club can further boost your income. It’s entirely optional, but by sharing this opportunity, you can unlock even greater earnings potential." "In today’s world, having an additional stream of income can make a significant difference. Imagine earning an extra $2,047.50 each month—how would that impact your life? Whether you’re saving for a big purchase, planning for the future, or just looking for more financial freedom, this income can be a game-changer." "So, what are the next steps? If this opportunity piques your interest and you’d like to learn more about how this wholesale club can help you earn, I’m here to provide all the details. This is a unique chance to create a new income stream, and I’m confident that once you understand how it works, you’ll see its incredible potential." "Thank you for your time and attention today. I’m excited to answer any questions you have and to help you take the first step toward earning with this powerful wholesale club."

As I transition from a one-person business to a team of people, I would love to hear from others who have done the same regarding advice or lessons learned on the tech side of things (not the marketing or legal sides). When I created everything in the beginning (business name, website, domain, social media handles...) it was all using my name, and I'd like to change that. So far, I have updated my logo and social media handles and am working on updating my graphics (social media, workshop slides, documents, invoices...) This has all been easy (though of course time-consuming.) The next thing I'm wondering about is my domain and email address. I am not concerned about being able to switch as I know it can be done, but instead what problems I should anticipate on the technical side when doing so. As with all technology, there are always growing pains so I'd like to get ahead of anything I can to make it as smooth as possible. Also, if I do change my domain and email address, what impact should I expect on people who are used to using my old stuff (primarily website and email)? In your experience, was it all a big headache? Sometimes things are so much harder than I anticipate and sometimes they end up being so much easier. Here's hoping for that second one 🤞 Thank you for any personal experiences you can share.

Webgility, my first love. ❤️ Taking care of a loved one requires mental and physical strength (financial strength helps too). I’ve been learning this first hand lately as I care for my aging parents ... and weirdly, it made me think about founders. It’s that same love and passion that founders have for their companies. Most people who haven’t started a company don’t understand this. Its our baby. We choose the grind, we choose to ignore all the naysayers, we choose to lean in especially when the markets are tough, we choose to battle even after we’ve been knocked down. We keep going. We are obsessed. It’s our first love and nothing less than amazing would do. Failure is not an option. This. This is my answer for anyone who ever asked why Webgility. Webgility is my first love. It’s this love and energy that I bring every day. 16years later, it’s still my passion. It’s what keeps me going and drives everyone in the company forward. Its why people come to work at Webgility and its why they stay. #smb #founder #saas #ecommerce

Hi there! 👋 Excited to showcase my latest project—a bank application where users can effortlessly schedule appointments. The frontend design prioritizes user experience, with an intuitive interface that guides users through the appointment scheduling process seamlessly. Using React and Redux together on the frontend makes sure that the app manages its state efficiently. This means we can update things dynamically and switch between views smoothly, giving users a much better experience. In the backend, the application runs on Node.js and Express. Together, they provide a strong foundation for a RESTful API that can handle different interactions from clients. The PostgreSQL database, working hand in hand with TypeORM, handles all the appointment and user data efficiently. It's organized in a relational structure, which means it organizes data into tables with rows and columns, defining relationships between different entities such as Users and Appointments. This setup enables efficient querying, retrieval, and manipulation of information, supporting complex operations and ensuring data integrity. Thank you for taking the time to check out my project! Feel free to reach out with any questions, feedback, or ideas you'd like to share. Happy coding!

It’s never the "right time". There’s always reasons to not do; reasons to postpone, to not take risks. But the reality is, there’s never a better time than now. I’ve always wanted to create with purpose, to build something that felt bigger than myself; something which could better the lives of many others who have historically been less fortunate. This year, my two co-founders (Jose Muñoz Aycart / Omar Pederzoli) and I began a mission that has been 7 years in the making - to create sustainable, long lasting impact in emerging markets, closing the gap with those who have nothing at all. Introducing Share, the digital smart contract platform enabling the Global South to be digitally plugged to the internet through Web3 and DePIN, creating new socioeconomic systems that empower local communities to be unlocked from poverty traps. I’m excited for this new chapter where risk & uncertainty meet fulfillment & impact, and I look forward to bringing you all with me. Whether you’re building your own business or work for a business, do so with purpose. Do so with passion. Do it for yourself & to impact others - do it now! If you’re interested in Web3, DePIN or socioeconomic impact, let’s connect!

Long overdue post, but owe it to my great colleagues and customers. After over six great years at AWS, I've made a short term pivot into academia to pursue a life-long desire. It was really hard to hang up the boots at AWS as it's a place that really cares about it's customers (on all levels) and a place where everyone really believes in the mission and services. I could write a thesis on the topic, but I just want to say thank you to all my colleagues, customers and partners along the way. The past number of years working in the healthcare sector has really opened my eyes to the gaps and opportunities available to improve healthcare outcomes at a personal and public health level. I'll be still doing my best to contribute to the sector, but no longer (at least for now) through the medium of technology. Although there are many factors the contribute to health, a key area is understanding the barriers to long term exercise which the majority of the population struggle to get enough of. Many contributors are understood and many still yet to be explored. I'll be looking the relationship between self-worth, perfectionism and physical activity in an attempt to see if we can add another tool to the healthcare practitioners toolbox! In my opinion, a really interesting area, not only in the field of health, but in all areas of goal-directed behaviors. It's going to be a challenge swapping out my daily lingo of EC2 and containers to covariates and mendelian randomisation but growth doesn't happen in the comfort zone (or whatever the cliché is..). I'll keep you posted whenever there are some interesting findings.
