What makes sports so exciting? Last night's SuperBowl was another example of how thrilling a sports event can be. The game was so good and exciting right to the end that it almost felt scripted! It's moments like these that make being a sports fan so rewarding. Professional sports have their fair share of criticism, with the embrace of gambling being one of them. However, the playing field is often the place where we reward performance the best. In sports, if you don't perform at a level of excellence, you likely don't play, and your ability to negotiate a new contract will be impacted. The best part? Favouritism, inequities, and nepotism don't really exist when pursuing an outcome like a SuperBowl championship. Take last night's game, for instance. Players of all backgrounds worked together for a common goal, performing at a level of excellence. Ultimately, the better team and players was rewarded, even though the incremental difference was so small. Does anyone doubt that the players on the field were not the best in the world and deserving to be there? Being a sports fan is not just about supporting one team, but about appreciating the sport itself. It's about witnessing the hard work, dedication, and excellence of the players on the field. Help me settle a raging debate from yesterday. When is it okay to change loyalties in sports? Currently the defined acceptable moments are as follows: 1. Getting married 2. When a new team forms in your region 3. If you are not a fan of the team, but only if a player, and that player moves on 4. Your previous team folds 5. When YOU move But the final question…is it ever acceptable to change loyalties when a team lets you down for an extended period of time? And if so, how many years in sequence? And if so, are there rules about what types of teams you can swap loyalties to?
