“Now I’m answering prayers?!” E. P. "Pete" Walker, Jr. serves as President and CEO for Affiliated Resources Group. In this role, Pete serves as the Chief Executive Officer for ARG affiliated companies, which includes the Housing Authority of DeKalb County (HADC), the Housing Development Corporation (HDC). Pete shared a terrific story with me about connecting deeply to the impact and mission of the work he does every day. And what he looks for when he brings talent into his organization. Aligning individual values, and the importance of the work for the individual is everything. I heard similar themes in my research for: “Listen, Lead and Love Your Work” (read more here: https://lnkd.in/g9xAmvis). How do you vet potential talent to ensure they are a fit for your organization? And a fit for the challenges of working in non-profit? #skyrocketcoaching #partnerships #nonprofitleadership

#Marketing Executive 🏆 Results-Driven Marketing, #Communication, #Talent Acquisition & #Customer Service #Leadership to BPO, Healthcare & Finance 📈 President-Laura Ingalls Wilder Legacy & Research Association
One of the things you hear a lot about during performance review time is about achieving goals. Sometimes those goals aren’t available within that organization. But as I always believe that you can work around things and MAKE your opportunities. Becoming President of the LIWLRA was a goal of mine, before I could articulate what I wanted to do. I have worked hard, in muddy situations, for this non-profit and have even handled some #crisiscommunication situations with a lot of grace and #thoughtleadership. If you want to grow your acumen, go outside of your role and get the #leadership skills you need to go to the next level. #MondayMotivation #Marketing #CMO #ExecutiveStrategy #Leadership

Well the word is out, I am a cover girl! I am humbled to be featured in Waconia Living magazine for the work the I am doing as President of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Legacy and Research Association. As a marketer with extensive experience, it was fun to be in the other side of an interview. Current & former coworkers and collegues within my network have all seen me grow this part of my career from member to volunteer to leadership. Heidi Nessa, Lynn Laumann and Katie Van Vooren were awesome to work with to tell my story and help bring attention to an international 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the museums, homesites and scholastic research on this author, who grew up in several places within 4 hours of my home. ❤️ Oh, I might know a little about the tv show and its 50th anniversary, too. 😉 Thank you Kim Funk for making the contact and encouraging me to tell my story. #WaconiaLiving #Leadership #nonprofit #history #culture

Today, I find myself reflecting on the wisdom shared by my late boss, friend, and mentor, Bruce Davis. Bruce left an indelible mark on my life, not only through his leadership but also through his profound insights. He often spoke about the pillars essential for a non-profit board's success, wisdom that now feels like a guiding light in his absence. According to Bruce, a robust non-profit board is built on three fundamental elements: wealth, wisdom, and work. These principles are a testament to Bruce's visionary leadership in every board, council and committee he served on (and there were many). To your legacy, dear friend. #leadership #nonprofit #legacy #wsu

Nonprofit Champion | Resource Development | Leadership Coaching | Board Development | Strategy | Organizational development
As volunteer leaders, board members play an important role in the success of the organization. Boards have significant legal and ethical responsibilities to their constituents, staff, and communities. Strong, knowledgeable boards help the organization gain credibility, provide important access to the community, and serve as effective advocates. Nonprofit boards have 3 main responsibilities: 1. Set Organizational Direction. The board is fundamentally responsible for defining the organization’s mission and what it strives to accomplish, usually through a strategic planning process. The board must be involved in the portions of planning involving philosophical and strategic decisions but usually, responsibility for tactical planning belongs to the staff. 2. Ensure the Necessary Resources. This includes: - Capable Staff Leadership - Adequate Financial Resources - Positive Public Image 3. Provide Oversight for the following: - Programs - Financial - Legal and ethical oversight - Evaluation of Chief Executive Is this helpful? Please like, follow, and share! Ready to work together?
