A new music festival in México has unveiled a line-up of exclusively female acts. Many campaigns have been putting the pressure on festival organisers to book more female artists and bands in recent years. One survey a couple years back noted women made up just a quarter of festival line-ups between 2020 and 2021. Now, HERA, a brand new festival taking place in México City in August 2024, has gone a step beyond booking MORE female acts — they’ve booked ONLY female acts! It would be an amazing idea to see come to fruition anywhere, but for the festival to be hosted in México, where prejudicial ‘machista’ attitudes still prevail in the shadows of creative industries, it’s especially thrilling to see. #EventMarketing #EventTrends #Events #EventProduction #EventProfs

This discussion gave me a deeper search in understanding of how the Paradigm shift has created modern challenges and new opportunities. Independent artists are learning to grow without labels, but due to financial lack and market control they still hold some power. While many artists start out playing in cafes or restaurants that already have an "in-house audience" presence, when we start playing in concert venues this is not the case. Concert venues typically do not have their own crowds who come to check out concerts. Rather, they make money by selling tickets to the crowd which the band brings. Consequently, the success of a show and the ticket sales almost entirely depend on how well the band or the artist promotes the concert. So, here are some strategies to increase ticket sales based on my experiences as an independent artist.
