In today's digitally connected world, dependable mobile connectivity is not just a luxury but a necessity, especially in large venues and stadiums. This article demonstrates how 5g technology designed, installed and managed by Shared Access has proven essential in managing the surge in data usage during major events. For fans, this means staying connected, sharing moments in real time, and enhancing their overall event experience. For event organisers and venue operators, it signifies the importance of investing in state-of-the-art mobile infrastructure to meet audience expectations. As we increasingly rely on digital interactions, the demand for robust mobile connectivity in stadiums and venues will only continue to escalate.

Interesting movements on the business side of leisure spending. It looks like TAIT , with its background in live events, has set a trend in taking over themed entertainment businesses. TAIT recently bought two design companies: ITEC Entertainment (A TAIT Company) and Thinkwell Group (A TAIT Company).
Now the worlds largest live event comapny Live Nation Entertainment takes a majority stake in SANDS HERITAGE LTD and by that becomes the owner of Dreamland Margate, a seaside amusement park in the UK. The reality is that this theme park has long been known for the many concerts it hosts, which makes the acquisition more logical. But personally, I think there is a trend going on where local entertainment venues and live events will increasingly merge in the coming years.

A review of SXSW Sydney (South By Sydney) so far:
𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐬: Great content, networking, and very friendly participants from all over the world. Drinks and food included at select events. Most importantly, the event is a reinvigoration of the decimated arts culture in Sydney, with an official NSW government acknowledgment of their past mistakes during the Conference opening, referring specifically to the lockout laws which impacted the industry for most of the past decade and were successfully overturned by the local Keep Sydney Open community campaign in Sydney city. A commitment to supporting the arts and music industry to exist again in Sydney city following it's strategic cultural shut down over the past decade.
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬: All attendees have to deal with long queues and small rooms that fill up quickly, leaving many unable to attend events they were interested in. This is compounded by the long distances between venues resulting in attendees having to transit for half an hour, only to find a room that is already at capacity. The event website schedule and app sign-up process have terrible UX, making it difficult to navigate. Poor wayfinding signage and room naming system. The main music festival stage area has been described as morbid, with brand activations that resemble a corporate trade show rather than a cultural community arts industry festival. The event is quite expensive, so it does not offer as good value as other existing arts industry events in Australia.
This is my perspective from research talking with attendees and all these things can be improved in future events, with better festival site selection and more fully considered participant experience design.

Stratospheric ticket prices for #TaylorSwift's Eras Tour at Levi's Stadium made me think about the U.S. ticket resale market. A staggering $41,000 ticket price prompt a question: are we dealing with a technological, legal, or political issue?
Unlike countries like France, Ireland, Poland, Australia, Italy, and Japan, the U.S. allows ticket prices to soar at the whims of speculators. Is this indicative of greater freedom, or a lack of control?
Interestingly, this situation raises a broader question about the distribution of revenue. Should it go to the artists we adore and appreciate, or to the speculators who play the market? Is it time for more regulations, or should we entrust the free market to self-correct?
Technological solutions could offer a way forward, given their ability to disrupt and democratize. But are we ready to implement them? And do they even exist yet in the U.S.?
Do you think a free market should allow arbitrary resale prices, or do you see a need for a more controlled approach to keep live music accessible for all?

🚨The #U2 concert https://lnkd.in/e9iJMwME is a lesson on how to merge tech, culture & entertainment to create a #transformative experience. 🚨
If you're curious how to start designing in that medium, LMK. My partner played a small roll - along w/MANY other partners - in bringing that experience to life this weekend. It was a creative production masterpiece. 🙋🏽
Here's my POV on the three key ingredients:
Technology:
📍The Sphere itself is a technological marvel. It is the world's largest spherical shaped venue, with a 360-degree video screen that surrounds the audience.
📍This screen allows for stunning visuals that can transport the audience to different worlds.
📍The Sphere's sound system is also one of the most advanced in the world. It provides a truly immersive listening experience, with crystal clear sound that feels like the band is playing right in front of you.
📍U2 also used technology to enhance their performance. For example, they used augmented reality to create the illusion of Bono floating in the air.
Culture:
📍U2 is one of the most iconic and successful rock bands of all time. They have a huge and passionate fan base, and their music has resonated with people all over the world.
📍U2's music is also deeply rooted in culture. Their songs often deal with themes such as social justice, love, and spirituality.
📍The Sphere concert was a celebration of U2's music and culture. The setlist featured a mix of classic hits and newer songs, and the band also included some surprises, such as a cover of David Bowie's "Space Oddity."
Entertainment:
📍The Sphere concert was a truly immersive and entertaining experience. The visuals, sound, and music all came together to create a show that was both exciting and thought-provoking.
📍U2 also put on a very energetic and engaging performance. They interacted with the audience throughout the show, and they made sure that everyone was having a good time.

I've written here before about what the huge concert "sphere" in Las Vegas looks like.
In general, it is not surprising that it was built in Las Vegas, because there is hardly any other city in the world that offers people such a fun and useful way to spend time as Las Vegas.
The sphere was designed by Populous, the architectural firm behind many of the world's leading sports arenas.
The construction cost, inflated by Pandemic, was ~$2.3 billion.
The creators of Sphere have created a next-level sound.
According to Claffey, there are 160,000 speakers in the bowl, including sound sources under each seat.
And that's all taking into account 16k resolution.
Sphere also features tactile seats that can vibrate based on what's happening on the screen, as well as 4D machines that can create wind effects, temperature changes and even smell.
Chances are, any large-scale construction costs in Las Vegas will easily pay for themselves.
And the monetization idea is simply brilliant.
The concerts (with a capacity of ~20,000 people) will draw crowds of tourists.
Naturally, there will be a markup on tickets for the bourgeoisie.
One can only marvel at how pumped up the entertainment industry is in America.
What is it worth to drive people to the Nevada desert and organize a music festival there!
There is plenty of land in every other state and even more untouched wilderness!
But no!
Instead, Americans have literally created a sphere by creating a high-tech homunculus the likes of which the world has never seen before.
By the way, at the last U2 concert, the sphere was used to broadcast footage of nature from the Grand Canyon.
People do not need nature, but its image in 16k resolution....
And so: ticket sales for regular concerts + merch + food + water + alcohol...
This will pay for itself in a few months, you can be sure!
