You don't need to save food vloggers' reels anymore! 📹
Now, you can conveniently order food directly from your video feed using Uber Eats. 🍔
You'll only be presented with options from nearby restaurants capable of delivering to your location, simulating an in-person dining experience within the app.
This setup enables merchants to connect with customers directly through their content.
Uber Eats has launched a short-form video feed on its app in San Francisco, Toronto, and New York, primarily with a focus on enhancing discoverability for restaurants.
But Why? and How will it impact Uber Eats?
1. Ride the short-form content wave 🌊
Every major app is now switching to short-form content, to improve its relevance in the market.
Even according to reports, LinkedIn is also experimenting with this!
Short-form content offers creators and consumers flexibility in creativity, speed, and personalization. It has the potential to go viral, reaching more people at a lower production cost.
2. Improve their metrics 📈
Uber Eats aims to lead the food industry by attracting food vloggers from TikTok and Instagram to their app, along with their followers. This move benefits both parties, making Uber Eats a top choice for food content and delivery.
This feature turns the app into a platform where local eateries can engage with a wider audience, boosting merchants' reach and offering users viral food content. It enhances the app experience and improves recommendation accuracy.
3. Revenue potential 💰
A significant portion of delivery app revenue stems from restaurant advertising and reservations. While Awaneesh Verma, Senior Director of Products at Uber Eats, mentioned they're not currently looking into advertising options, they might consider introducing a merchant advertising board in the future.
With evolving privacy policies, traditional targeted advertising may become obsolete. Uber could explore ranking-based ads or commission models, potentially earning from assisting merchants or creators.
With Uber Eats selling its India business to Zomato and becoming a major shareholder on the board, we might see a similar feature on the Zomato app soon.
I'm excited to use it to find new restaurants and share my food experiences!
How about you? Let me know in the comments!🍽️
