What are your daily and weekly KPIs? What is the optimum size of a care service, including the number of branches? Council providers have become very large, but in the private market, such large corporate models have not proved successful. The private market is dominated by franchise brands. Successful franchisees have built substantial businesses with 3-5 franchises. Why is this? What is the relationship between scale and quality? How large can groups of private offices become before their efficiency is impacted, or is there no such limit for the right business model? KPIs are a heads-up display for driving your business. What should your KPIs tell you? In a snapshot, they should give you a heads-up of where the business is heading in terms of volume, profitability, and quality. KPIs commonly used would include customer numbers, care sessions, unallocated care visits, number of supervisions of care plans and staff, revenue, and travel time and mileage costs as a percentage of revenue. What do you use? You will complete a detailed monthly operational and financial review. The best KPIs will indicate that something needs to be adjusted more urgently.
