The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat recently analyzed 1.3 million buildings in the Miami area by their elevation above mean sea level. 52% of the buildings lie at 10 meters or less above mean sea level; however, just 0.3% of those are sited below 2.2 meters - the maximum projected sea-level rise by 2100. Tragedy of the Commons is a phenomenon where an individual with an access to public resources (common) acts in a way that is harmful for the society. This is due to the selfish behaviour of human beings that may lead to short-term gains for one but ultimately ends up in a long-term loss for everyone. We see this manifested in improper toilet usage in trains leading to unusable toilets, carvings on heritage monuments declaring undying love etc. #gametheory #publicpolicy #governmentinitiatives
