Food Justice Advocate | Food Pantry Consultant | Bringing justice and dignity to the fight to end hunger
Being kind is essential to helping people experiencing hunger feel welcome in emergency food spaces, but genuine kindness can only grow from a foundation that believes that everyone deserves to eat, no matter what. Read more on the blog: https://lnkd.in/g42SAY2r

𝙂𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝘽𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙒𝙚𝙚𝙠! No, it’s not a wish; it’s the actual name of the celebration going on this week 😅 Organised by the Good Business Charter, it's a moment to pause and reflect on what 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 looks like. At the GBC, they summarised it in 10 components: ❥ Real Living Wage ❥ Fairer Hours and Contracts ❥ Employee Well-being ❥ Employee Representation ❥ Equality, Diversity & Inclusion ❥ Environmental Responsibility ❥ Pay Fair Tax ❥ Commitment to Customers ❥ Ethical Sourcing ❥ Prompt Payment As for me, being a responsible business owner is 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 to be. The minimum starting point for what I aspire to, for what I’d want to see everywhere in the world. And what better way to wish you a Good Business Week (yes, it's a wish this time! 🥂) than to share with you the most recent video of our charity of choice, FeedLondon, a project run by Miracles Charity. For our clients out there reading this, here’s to what our Christmas donations in lieu of gifts contributed to. These numbers really speak volumes: with the Christmas 2023 initiative, they... Assisted 𝟮𝟲𝟬 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀, Supported 𝟲𝟬𝟬 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 (3,650 since launch) Delivered 𝟲,𝟮𝟰𝟬 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 (35,700 since launch) Distributed £𝟭𝟵,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗩𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 (£93,000 since launch) Check the link in the comments to read a bit more of what was achieved in total. Our contributions were just a drop in the ocean 💧, but it’s like responsible entrepreneurship: it's what we’d want to see everywhere in the world, and we can only start with our own little bit. So, what little thing can you commit to doing this week to give your own tiny drop in the ocean to promote responsible entrepreneurship? 💞 #GoodBusinessMatters #ethicalbusiness #responsiblebusiness

✨🌍 Celebrating World Food Day with Mother Teresa’s Compassionate Call to Action 🌍✨ Today, on World Food Day, we reflect on the poignant words of Mother Teresa: "If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one." This simple yet powerful message inspires us to take tangible steps towards ending hunger, one act of kindness at a time. Mother Teresa's call reminds us that every small gesture of generosity contributes to a larger change. By focusing on what we can do individually, we participate in a global movement towards a more compassionate world. 🌟💬 We invite you to share: What are some ways you or your community help to combat hunger? How can we all contribute, even in small ways, to ensure everyone has enough to eat? Join us in honoring this day by extending kindness and support to those in need. Every plate filled is a step towards peace and health for all. 👉 Learn more about our initiatives to create a more compassionate world here: https://buff.ly/3YnooQK #WorldFoodDay #MotherTeresa #EndHunger #FeedOne #FDCW Image Attribution: Manfredo Ferrari, CC BY-SA 4.0 <https://lnkd.in/ddzprHi>, via Wikimedia Commons (background removed)

The impact on a family's health and budget can be enormous. Purchasing food daily rather than doing a big shop means not only higher costs, but also facing a struggle to buy nutritious food for growing children. That's why our HMP Addiewell Visitor Centre team did everything they could to help a family in need get a much needed new fridge freezer. The Cyrenians team applied to the @BBCChildreninNeed Emergency Essentials Fund on their behalf and within a week, their new appliance was up and running. Food Justice Advocate | Food Pantry Consultant | Bringing justice and dignity to the fight to end hunger
For too long, anti-hunger efforts have focused on scarcity, compliance, and worthiness. And it's not working; hunger rates continue to rise even as we pour increasing amounts of resources into the effort. I propose that it's time we change our approach by prioritizing abundance, support, and dignity. Subscribe to the Who Deserves to Eat blog to join the conversation! www.whodeservestoeat.com

This is an experiment in whether we can really talk meaningfully about the right to food in 30 minutes! There will be so much more to come, but do join for this short webinar introducing the fundamentals.
📍WEBINAR: What do we mean when we talk about a right to food? Join Beth Bell and Anna Chworow of Nourish Scotland for a 30 minute webinar next Tuesday morning. We'll explore the fundamentals of the right to food. What difference could a real, inclusive right to food make, in ensuring that everyone can live well, not just survive? What would this mean in practice? And what kind of food are we talking about? This will be useful to anyone working in emergency food aid or community food provision, and anyone committed to centring dignity in approaches to tackling hunger. 👇 Sign up link below 👇
