The three big questions for Human Capital Management: 1. Where is our headcount? 2. Where is our overall skill level (average amongst the headcount)? 3. Where is our leadership quality level? The answers to these questions will give you the approach needed to determine where the HR team needs to guide the organization in the arenas of Talent Acquisition, Training/Development, Leadership Development, Performance Management, etc. Operational leadership must work with HR hand in hand to address shortcomings and areas of opportunity. Mishandle, and your organization can be set back quite a bit in its effort to achieve near- and long-term goals.
