"Examining female leadership in the FTSE100, and how they communicate, brings home just how limited gender diversity is at the top of the UK corporate world. But our research also offers signs of hope – people want to hear from these women and engage with their content, particularly on sustainability and innovation, topics that will transform and change the business world. At the same time, female leaders have the chance to create greater rapport with their following through more personal content." As part of our Tokyo office’s 20th-anniversary celebrations, Kekst CNC partnered with White & Case LLP for an engaging panel on strategic shareholder engagement for M&A and unsolicited bids in Japan and overseas. Following an opening remark by Kekst CNC Japan Partner Jochen Legewie and a keynote address by KKR Japan Chairman Atsushi Saito, the panel, chaired by White & Case’s Senior Advisor Arthur Mitchell, and including Kekst CNC New York Partner Ruth Pachman, Mr. Saito, and White & Case Partners Nels Hansen and Naoya Shiota, delved into topics such as Japan’s shareholder activism market, which is now the second most active in the world, the country’s corporate governance code and unsolicited bid mechanics, local and international stakeholder management, and the world of M&A and take-privates. Thank you to our partners White & Case for co-hosting this event with us and discussing these important topics for companies in Japan and around the world. #KekstCNC20inTokyo

We're delighted to share our latest research collaboration with the Munich Security Conference (MSC), launched in New York during the UN Summit of the Future. Our new survey, conducted across nine “emerging power” countries (Brazil, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Turkey), offers critical insights for companies and institutions operating globally: ◽Perception of Western States: People in these countries do not see Western states as rule-abiding, with the US scoring worse than China in most societies surveyed. ◽Declining Faith in International Standards: There is a growing belief that violations of international rules and principles are increasing, yet there remains a strong global appetite for rules that support universal values. ◽Implications for Corporate Communications: Companies and institutions must be mindful of how they project themselves in different markets. ◽Assumptions about audience perceptions can lead to strategic missteps. Adaptation and sensitivity to local sentiments are crucial. ◽Anti-Western Sentiment: Corporates should challenge their organizational perceptions in various markets and understand the influence of their most recognized voices. ◽Focus on Impact: While skepticism towards rule-based arguments exists, focusing on the tangible impact on people's lives resonates more effectively. Despite challenges, the data shows that people in “emerging powers” still prefer a world driven by universal values. Corporates should prioritize issues that align with these values and demonstrate their commitment to creating a prosperous, safer world.
