What you need to know about Medical Laboratory Scientists 🔬 💉 While I was at the lab one day, a client returned to collect her test results from the previous day. After printing out the validated results, I handed them over to her. With a hesitant expression, she asked me, ''Can you explain the results to me, or is that not possible?'' That was a legitimate question, but I wondered internally how someone performing a laboratory investigation wouldn't understand the results. Nonetheless, I smiled and assured her, 'Yes, of course, I can explain the results to you. This scenario is not unique to just one individual; it is a common occurrence in my line of work. Operating as a service provider, the lab primarily serves walk-in clients and physicians. Despite being the unsung heroes of the healthcare delivery system, I strongly believe that our clients should understand who we are and the pivotal role we play. We are more than just individuals in white coats who collect blood samples for laboratory tests or provide estimated turnaround times. We are a team of highly trained medical professionals who significantly influence about 70% of clinical decisions made for patients. Within our profession, we encompass various roles, including Medical Lab Assistants (MLAs), Medical Lab Technicians (MLTs), Medical Lab Scientists (MLSs), Doctor of Medical Lab Science (MLS.Ds), and Specialist Consultants, among others The next time you step into a lab, rest assured that you are interacting with a team of extensively trained professionals. Much like pilots adhere to strict checklists and standard operating procedures to ensure safety, we (Lab Scientists), too, follow rigorous protocols to provide you with the highest quality healthcare. And to wrap up, yes, we are intimately familiar with every detail of the results we generate, and we are more than capable of interpreting them for you. #medicallaboratoryscience #consultwithalabscientist #thescientificshrine

It is the job of the more experienced Tech to recognize when a less experienced Tech needs help. The less experienced Tech should never feel unsure or overwhelmed. They should always feel comfortable to go up to a Senior and ask for help
What separates a technician of 15 years or more from a new grad/tech of a couple years?..... WISDOM/EXPERIENCE. What closes the gap between that tech of 15 plus years with a newer technician?... WORK ETHIC/ATTENTION TO DETAIL. * ie TO THE YOUNGER TECHS if you have great work ethic and attention to detail it will get you far as a biomed. Experience will come with time and strengthen those traits even further * #BMET #Biomed #technician #iamhtm

Fourth Year Medical Student, With A Special Interest In Radiography || A Top Rated Medical Writer, Highly Recognized By Favikon || Eager To Learn And Grow || Email ✉️: {ransomonyema98@gmail.com}.
Today, I had an amazing experience during my clinical placement as a fourth year radiography medical student at Everight Diagnostic & Laboratory Services Limited. I met a patient who had hemoptysis and was coughing up blood. This is not ordinary blood, it is mammalian blood, which is different from occult blood, cannot be seen with the naked eye and must be examined. The patient drank barium meal while while undergoing some radiological examinations. A barium meal involves the patient taking a delayed solution of barium sulfate. Barium sulfate is a radiopaque contrast agent that allows better visualization of the digestive tract on X-rays. The difference between barium meal and barium sulfate is objective; Asking the patient to drink a barium meal while positioning to ensure the integrity of the abdominal wall. This allows the barium to view the abdomen and makes it easier to identify abnormalities during an x-ray. The clarity provided by barium meal is important in diagnosing the underlying cause of the patient's symptoms. 📌 In addition to my medical experience, I also offer medical writing services to write accurate and clear content using my background in medical radiography. Whether it is a research article, a patient report, or a medical record, my experience in medical writing ensure that medical records are good and reliable. ❓Have you ever wondered how diagnostics change patient care? Share your thoughts! #MedicalRadiography #ClinicalExperience #DiagnosticImaging #MedicalWriting #Radiology
