In Nunavut, only about 15 percent of non-profit organizations are registered charities. (In the rest of Canada it's about half.) Despite recent legal changes that make it easier for charities to donate to non-charities, many foundations are still only funding registered charities. This means that 85% of Nunavut's 250+ non-profits, most of which are Inuit-led, are ineligible for their funding.
