"Conscious Inclusion: Mitigating Unconscious Bias at Work" Last night, I came across a fascinating article by Peter Hall (FIEDP) on the importance of identifying unconscious biases to effectively address them. Read the article here: https://lnkd.in/en6y-kMG Key takeaways: - Unconscious bias training must be part of a broader culture of inclusion to drive real change. - Not actively combating these biases can make employees feel uncomfortable, increasing staff turnover. Thank you for such an informative & insightful research article - I really enjoyed reading it. #diversityandinclusion #leadership #inclusion #diversity

In every organization, there's an intangible yet invaluable asset that fuels innovation, productivity, and success: a culture of belonging. As leaders, it's our responsibility to cultivate an environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. Bringing this ethos into the professional realm, I've witnessed how a sense of belonging can ignite creativity, enhance collaboration, and drive organizational performance. When individuals feel seen, heard, and appreciated, they're more likely to unleash their full potential and go above and beyond to achieve shared goals. But fostering a culture of belonging isn't just about policies and initiatives; it's about embodying empathy, compassion, and authenticity in every interaction. It's about actively listening to diverse voices, championing inclusivity, and challenging biases that undermine unity and cohesion. Together, let's commit to building workplaces where everyone feels like they truly belong. Because when individuals thrive, so does the organization as a whole. #belonging #inclusion #leadershipdevelopment StatusNeo

The thing About Leadership: Today, I will focus on the importance of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) are crucial components in the workplace, especially in leadership roles. Diversity brings together individuals of different backgrounds, ethnicities, races, religions, and sexual orientations, ensuring decisions are made considering a variety of perspectives. Equity fosters an environment where all team members have equal opportunities for growth and are valued based on their contributions and performance, not their background. Inclusion creates a sense of belonging and value, promoting teamwork and success. Leaders play a key role in fostering an inclusive environment by addressing micro-aggressive behaviors and promoting inclusive language. DE&I not only enhances team performance but also reduces staff turnover, creating a culture where employees at all levels can aspire and thrive. Does the culture of your organization recognize the importance of DE&I? Can you aspire to be like anyone above you in the hierarchy of your company? Food for thought! #Leadership #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #WorkplaceCulture

Today in my Marathon class for Global Leadership, taught by John Wilson I researched about different ways to be inclusive in the workplace. I learned that to be more inclusive in the workplace I should be my authentic self, speak up about inclusion and make sure my decisions align with my values and beliefs while speaking up in a healthy and respectful way. I also learned to be mindful of the way I communicate.I should be patient and always allow others to speak and express themselves, and to not talk over others or interrupt them. In the future I plan to speak up more about inclusion and pay more attention to the way I communicate with others and make sure their voices are heard, and their values and beliefs are respected.

The more you know. “Leadership and #leaders” are titles that are sometimes haphazardly thrown around without training and experience. But in the space of #DEI it is imperative that we practice “inclusive leadership” if our work is to not only survive but to thrive and help others grow along the way. Empty and performative leadership, void of emotional intelligence, empathy, and guidance is toxic and dangerous.

An inclusive leader is someone who not only values diversity but actively creates an environment where all individuals feel welcomed, respected, and empowered to contribute their best. They make an effort to understand the unique experiences and perspectives of each team member. This means taking the time to listen actively and with compassion, ensuring everyone feels heard and valued. They are knowledgeable about different cultures, customs, and perspectives, and they continuously seek to educate themselves and others. This understanding helps them to create policies and practices that respect and celebrate diversity. They are willing to acknowledge their own biases and limitations, and they actively seek feedback from others. This humility allows them to learn and grow, improving their ability to lead inclusively. They also hold themselves and others accountable for fostering an inclusive environment, setting clear expectations and following through on commitments. They actively promote initiatives and policies that support a diverse workforce and inclusive culture. This advocacy is not just about words, but about taking concrete actions that drive meaningful change. #diversity #equity #inclusion #leadership

An example of the behaviours and values of an inclusive leader... ✨A useful list and examples shared by Dr Asif in his post. If certain words or approaches don't resonate with you but the response you get from those around you is still the same then you are probably still approaching things with inclusion in mind as a leader. It is not uncommon for workplace and community cultures to place different levels of importance on certain traits. In the work I do, emotional intelligence and cultural humanity are crucial but workplace culture sometimes actively discourage curiosity, emotional maturity and valuing difference. Inclusive leaders can still make a difference in these workplaces but they are going to have a tougher time of it. This is a clear example of that common phrase, 'be the change you want to see'. Inclusive leaders model and demonstrate their values in word and practice and create space for different types of inclusive leader. Be a leader that others want to follow and work with... 💬 What behaviours and approaches do you value in leadership that actively includes? #InclusiveLeadership #Examples #Behaviours
