Retained Executive Search. I Am A Highly-Strategic, Experienced Recruiter. I Find The "Right" Senior-Level Talent For Hiring Leaders To Compare/Contrast Regardless Of Industry, Job Function, Funding + Company Size.
Today is two months since I launched my substack, The Recruiting Rodeo 🐎, and I want to give a big shoutout to all of my free and paid subscribers for your amazing support — thank you so much! In this week's "Candidate as Customer" series (we're on Part VII already), we explore the all-important "Intake" call — a must for producing successful search outcomes!!! The CaC series is all about creating the best recruiting and hiring experience possible — for everyone involved. Because... “if we can all agree that a Company’s greatest asset is indeed its employees, logic alone tells us that potential employees — those we are recruiting, may want to hire, and could ultimately join the team — are its second-greatest asset." More solutions on ways to foster a CaC mindset next week. Until then, have a great weekend and thanks, again, for riding along🐎! #hiring #recruiting #talentacquisition #candidateascustomer #customerservice #fans

Putting the right business people together! Where could your business really do with some help right now? I will connect you with the right person or mentor you to do it yourself. Let's have a chat.
Are you a business owner looking to grow but struggling to find the right people to fit? Are you looking for contentment and fulfillment in your work but can't find the right employer? In either case, why not have a chat with Rory Laughton-Scott, the Founder of The Career Agent? 👇 Unlike many recruitment people, The Career Agent specialises in working closely with employers to establish exactly what is required and then goes out to find the best people to fit the business. So whichever camp you're in, he can put the right people together. #recruitment #newjob #opportunity #jobsatisfaction
Why do you do what you do? I love to help people to improve their professional lives, be that candidates or founders and MDs. 📣 Calling all candidates - if you can't give a good answer to the question above, then I have some resources that will help you. 📣 Calling all Founders, MDs, Hiring Managers - if you have lost passion for what you do, you might have the wrong people structure in place. Remember "if you're not enjoying it, you're probably not doing it right" (credit Dave Plunkett), so please get in touch. Let me know in the comments, or on DM, I would love to hear your answers. Credit to Sarah May for the original question!

Jeff Barker told me a story yesterday that was 🤯❤️🎉 He picked two recruiters on his team. One newbie, with BrightHire. And one experienced recruiter, without it. They each ran 140 screens and tracked how much time they spent on everything afterwards. Notes, follow ups, clarifications, admin, etc. The experienced recruiter without BrightHire spent 38 hours on all that low value work. The newbie with BrightHire spent… 8. She saved an entire week’s worth of productivity in a little over a month. (If you do the math, these recruiters are HUSTLING!) I asked, what did she do with those extra 30 hours? - Invested in getting close to her hiring managers - Dedicated time to candidate prep and care - Actually sourced proactively - Reviewed highlights from her screens and some of her peers to refine her pitch Basically… a ton of important work we would categorize as “proactive” vs “reactive”. I get all worked up when I hear stories like this… just had to share it :)

I joined Hatch because the holistic fit was undeniable. Here's how I worked it out 🐣 1. Ability: I have built growth teams from series A to post-IPO. 2. Team Fit: I deeply connected with the team's bias for kindness. 3. Motivation: I want to make peoples lives better. Better job = better life.
After analysing hundreds of thousands of job applications on Hatch - here’s the #1 data point that jumped out to me. You are 3x more likely to be hired if you can clearly articulate your values on your application. If you can articulate what you stand for. “Holistic fit” is what hiring managers are solving for in their minds.

"What did we learn?" I ask this a lot. Of my kids. Myself after I do something dumb like cut myself with a chainsaw. Clients and prospects. Like this: Them: "We're struggling with figuring out how to acquire customers need so we did this market research." Me: "This is…a LOT of slides. What did we learn from this?" Them: "Well…we thought X and we were pretty much right." Me: "Was that worth the $75,000? That could have been a new hire." Them: "Well…" But when I help a small team interview 10 customers: Me: "What did we learn from this?" Them: Keep talking out of the room, down the hall, out the door, to the car, to the cashier, to their partner at dinner table, to the mail person the next day…

Retained Executive Search. I Am A Highly-Strategic, Experienced Recruiter. I Find The "Right" Senior-Level Talent For Hiring Leaders To Compare/Contrast Regardless Of Industry, Job Function, Funding + Company Size.
Howdy, partners! We’re back in the saddle this week for the second installment of The Recruiting Rodeo's 🐎 multi-part series, "The Candidate as Customer." Hopefully, you took advantage of our “bye” week (go Huskies!) to shine your spurs and learn more about one of my favorite professions in last week’s Rodeo — "Let's Talk PR" (aka, Public Relations). This week, we return to our multi-part series and shine a bright light on my wireless carrier, AT&T — another Company that as I like to say, “gets it right” — provides exceptional customer service (you'll have to subscribe to learn why and how). Next week, we’ll start applying AT&T’s customer service insights, as well as those from other Companies we have featured in Part I, to figure out how Company Talent Acquisition teams and Search Firms, can adopt the CaC mindset and start treating candidates and job seekers -- like their "valued customers." Because in my mind, IT. ALL. STARTS. THERE. That first interaction with a job seeker or potential candidate -- who may very well become a Company employee. And aren't a Company's employees or people, its number one "resource" or "asset?" If you’ve been riding along 🐎, then you know I've already started drawing some meaningful parallels between Customer Service + Communications and PR + Talent Acquisition. I'm going to be providing even more in the next few Rodeos as we explore actionable "solutions." Happy Easter 🐰 to all who observe and hopefully, for many, a long weekend. See you out on the trails! 🐎 #recruiting #customerservice #greatbrands #customercare #talentacquisition #candidates #jobsearch

🌎 Engineer & Recruitment Consultant passionate about supporting Energy & Clean Tech companies as they scale 🌍 Hiring the best people is an accelerator!!
How do you know a new hire will thrive in the fluid structure of your growing business? As you progress through seed and early-stage financing, bringing in people who will be comfortable with the growing pains is critical rather than waiting to find out how they cope on the job. There are plenty of behavioral-focused assessment tools that will give you a far more precise picture of the person you are hiring, for their benefit as much as yours. Incorporate them in your process and reap the benefits, both short and long term. Have a look at my website in the comments to learn more.
