Looking for live in dog care-nanny work-personal assistant. Actress/photographer/researcher/coach/writer/environmentalist/stylist/photoshop. Museum experience and studio management , sales and photography. Seattle! ❤️
So rescues work with certain shelters…some only take small or breed specific. Some don’t take behavior dogs or sick dogs listed for pre euthanasia, but if they seem perfectly healthy try anyway. Holds are being shortened. If you don’t agree then sign petitions and get involved. Nobody wants to see a healthy dog euthanized, and it’s shocking that it’s happening. Fosters don’t happen out of thin air, reach out to your company, and Highschools and active senior facilities and anyone who can help. When a shelter is in a no man’s land? Create a lifeline. DogsWithoutBorders O kills is the goal!!! Love you dog lovers and rescuers and vets and fosters.

Puppy/kitten farms are where pet shops and 3rd party sellers often get their "products". If you buy a puppy/kitten and don't see the mother and how they are kept, you are likely unwittingly contributing to the cruelty.
SO-CALLED "GOOD" BREEDERS ARE A PART OF THE PROBLEM.
Healthy dogs/cats who've been abandoned and/or abused and babies from dogs/cats that weren't neutered/spayed by irresponsible guardians, desperate for a home, are KILLED, as shelters are full of unwanted "surplus" animals. Animals are treated like products, commodities that are bred and sold. People go to breeders and pet shops to buy a certain breed they want. If you love animals, help a poor little fur baby who needs a second chance at a happy life and a forever home. Of course you'll love any animal you'll give a home to, it's not their choice to come from a breeder. But we can choose to stop adding to the demand and be a part of the solution instead. When you give a home to a shelter or rescue dog, it will feel a thousand times better to save this fur baby, than going to a breeder. Knowing your new fur baby has been given a second chance and you've given them the happy life they deserve, will make you happier than buying any particular breed. #adoptdontshop
It's like a SILENT ATROCITY, that nobody wants to think about.😞
Until it's government policy and legislation to ADOPT NOT SHOP and spay and neuter, the animal overpopulation problem and animal cruelty will continue.
Too many people still consider this a "CONSUMER CHOICE" issue (where instead of a life, an animal is a PRODUCT, a commodity to be BOUGHT), rather than an ANIMAL CRUELTY issue, where we continue BREEDING domestic animals, knowing healthy, animals are PUT DOWN everyday like they are "waste product" because they are passed over for a shiny "new" animal of a designer breed. 😢😔
There is no justification for this.
We cannot BUY, whilst healthy animals DIE!

There is no justification, ZERO, for breeding more domesticated companion animals, whilst healthy animals are killed in shelters.

End the DEMAND, end the CRUELTY.
The only solution is to stem the flow and stop breeding more.

I can’t wrap my head around these continuous murders. These innocent souls keep loosing their lives.

Please stop breeding these animals just to see them destroyed. It breaks my heart. The most egregious thing is buying puppies in pet stores, online or Craigslist. These almost always come from cruel & abusive puppy mills. Greedy people who do not give even adequate care and just breed until the dog can’t and then abandon or destroy them. The USDA just rubber stamp these breeders & brokers. They often get inbred and face a lifetime of medical care. Please Google “ puppy mills” to learn more. Please share. Adopting & fostering whether it’s children or animals is the most powerful of the superpowers.

Before welcoming a pet into your home, it's imperative to understand the level of commitment involved. Pets, whether they are dogs, cats, birds, or any other creature, rely entirely on their owners for their well-being. This includes providing them with proper nutrition, regular veterinary care, exercise, mental stimulation, and, most importantly, love and attention.
Moreover, it's essential to acknowledge the financial investment required to care for a pet adequately. From initial adoption or purchase fees to recurring expenses like food, grooming, vaccinations, and unexpected medical bills, the cost of pet ownership can add up significantly over time. Additionally, there are expenses related to pet supplies, such as bedding, toys, leashes, and litter boxes, which are necessary for their comfort and happiness.
Beyond the financial aspect, owning a pet also entails emotional commitment. Pets become integral members of our families, and as such, they require emotional support and companionship. They rely on us to provide a safe and nurturing environment where they can thrive. This means being there for them during times of illness, distress, or simply offering them the companionship they need to lead fulfilling lives.
Sadly, too often, individuals underestimate the responsibilities associated with pet ownership or fail to consider them altogether. This can result in neglect, abandonment, or surrendering pets to shelters—a heartbreaking outcome that could have been prevented with proper awareness and preparation.
Therefore, before deciding to bring a pet into your home, take the time to reflect on your lifestyle, resources, and ability to commit. Consider factors such as your living situation, work schedule, financial stability, and any potential life changes that may impact your ability to care for a pet.
Furthermore, research the specific needs and characteristics of the species and breed you're interested in to ensure they align with your lifestyle and preferences. Be honest with yourself about whether you can provide the level of care and attention your prospective pet deserves.
In conclusion, pet ownership is a serious and lifelong commitment that should not be taken lightly. It requires a significant investment of time, money, and emotion. By approaching pet ownership with sincerity, responsibility, and awareness, we can ensure that our furry companions receive the love, care, and respect they deserve throughout their lives. Let's be conscientious guardians and provide our pets with the fulfilling lives they deserve.
REST PEACEFULLY

In case you missed the April 19th Dogs and Data call hosted by Shelter Animals Count and Pedigree Foundation, here are the key learnings for the first quarter of 2024:
🐶 Dog adoptions accounted for 53% of dog intakes in 2024, compared to 52% in 2019.
🐶 Dog return-to-owner outcomes have declined each year since 2019, from a high of 21% of total intakes in 2019 to 18% in 2024.
🐶 Dog transfer outcomes have decreased three percentage points, from 16% of total intakes to 13% of total intakes in 2024.
🐶 Dog non-live outcomes decreased from 9% of total intakes in 2019 to 6% of total intakes in 2021, and have been increasing since 2021, reaching the highest level in 2024, with 11% of total intakes resulting in a non-live outcome.

You know, I have to get this off my chest about all the horrifying pics of animals suffering. It upsets me to my core to see pictures like this above, people take the time to post them of animals suffering. We all can imagine the horrors of what animals suffer and go through mostly, that has to do with humans involved, in some way. The first and foremost empathic thing to do is help the animal, not take pictures or videos, things like this makes me want to quit social media, isn't this supposed to be a career networking site? I am starting to really think about having second thoughts about this. I have rescued animals, had the media involved to break the case to shut down a shelter, I did not have time to take pictures nor did I want to of some of the animals that died from being so sick. The day I helped move them out of the shelter. the only time I needed to show the animals was at the shelter as I walked through it with someone videoing the shelter for the news station, so people could join in to help support me on trying to shut it down. How can anyone just snap pictures, this as an example, just watch the pup as it was clearly disabled and can hardly walk, suffering, just kept on videoing, why not take videos or pictures, of you are someone saving the animal! that is what needs to be seen! I will never understand people and on what level their mind works! this applies to everyone not just to this person, so please understand, what I am trying to explain.
