Today is World Suicide Prevention Day—a time to honor those lost to suicide and raise awareness for prevention. It's a reminder that we must empower communities to change the narrative on suicide and recognize the vital role we all play in supporting one another. Just recently, while browsing Facebook for depression support groups, I came across a post from a teenage girl that stopped me in my tracks. It said, "I'm tired of acting strong. My soul hurts, and my heart and mind are lost." Her words were raw and heartbreaking. Yet, despite the hundreds of shares her post received, the comments were mostly people simply saying, "Me too" or "I understand," without offering real support or connection. This left me feeling uneasy. It’s not enough to just share a post like this and move on. What if this had been our child or someone we loved, reaching out in a moment of deep pain and being met with silence? We have to do more. So I reached out to let her know that she was heard and that she wasn't alone. If you see someone struggling, don’t just hit the share button—reach out. Offer them words of encouragement, let them know they’re not alone, and that their feelings matter. A simple message of support could make all the difference. If we all took a moment to respond with care instead of simply sharing, imagine the change we could create. Let’s use today as a starting point. Together, we can change the narrative, lift each other up, and help save lives. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #ChangeTheNarrative #SupportMatters #MentalHealthAwareness #YouAreNotAlone
