📣Meet Rachel Harwood, a Paediatric Surgeon at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. Rachel has a PhD in regenerative medicine and is overseeing a PhD funded by Bowel Research UK. 🔬Rachel is researching Hirschsprung’s disease, a rare, inherited condition affecting 170 newborn babies every year in the UK. 👶When an embryo forms, nerves in the rectum develop that allow the bowel to relax so that babies can poo.
