I’m attending the iMIS Users Group Conference this week - key note speaker this morning was Tom Morrison. My favorite part was this Board exercise he recommended: We need to define the actual value we provide our members - What do we (The Association) do for members that they cannot do for themselves effectively- obviously lobbying and annual conference- what else?! The world is moving fast, we need to ensure our members are getting actual value. Whatever that list is becomes the foundation of your Winback & Renewal emails. #IUG2024 #Associations #Membership

"You make what recovery coaches and peer advocates do so ordinary, so mainstream," a participant told me after my workshop yesterday. Well, yes. Recovery coaches and peer advocates are committed professionals with career paths and ambitions based on the same understanding of our own interests, skills, talents and values, added to special training in non-clinical roles and ethical commitment in our professional practice. Peer recovery professionals are certified according to mainstream principles and protocols and are answerable to a profession-wide code of ethical conduct. The New York Certification Board is itself a mainstream organization, a member of the national Institute for Credentialing Excellence, whose Director of Certification, Elisabeth Kranson, is ICE-certified. Nothing "weird or special" here. Accordingly, peer recovery professionals expect to be treated with the same professional respect throughout the hiring, onboarding, management, supervision and mentoring process as other professionals. And to be paid properly for their work.
Ruth Riddick posing with the New York Certification Board team who joined her to discuss "Who Cares About CARC?" at yesterday's Friends of Recovery NY Annual Recovery Conference in Albany - (l2r) Cathie Gifford, Program Associate; Christal Montague, NYCB Vice President; Luis Laboy, NYCB Board President; and Director of Certification, Elisabeth Kranson. Ruth writes: "It was a memorable occasion and absolutely delightful to have this souvenir. Thank you, Theresa M Knorr, CARC RCP-F, for the invitation to present." https://lnkd.in/gCP9Z8dA

Tired of dull conferences, where you are just spoken at for 7 hours? So are we! So we’ve designed the #asb10 conference to be VERY different… Here’s just a flavour of what to expect, led by our partners Janine Green & Darren Burton with all of our associates: ⭐️ Struggle with ASB injunctions as experience have found them to be expensive and time-consuming? Our legal session will offer practical tips for overcoming some of these challenges, making sure you get the benefit from this powerful tool ⭐️ Jo Grimshaw and her team have truly been at the forefront of using the Closure Powers - after a decade, what does she wish she knew back in 2014? ⭐️ Public spaces issues? Heard about the PSPO being used, whilst others opt for a persons unknown injunction? Join us for our live debate, discussing the pros, cons and considerations. ⭐️ What makes an effective ASB case review? We’re holding an audience takeover… ⭐️ A live roundtable discussing the Community Protection Notices - hear from a range of voices, with differing thoughts and experiences. We’ll also be using the opportunity to reflect on the results of the General Election and what this means for the future of ASB. We’ve worked really hard to shape a programme which is relevant for all practitioners, whether from Housing, Local Authority or Policing. Get your ticket at the super early bird rate and you can gain access to all this and more for just £129 (details in the comments). We can’t wait to see you there…
