AUGUST IS HERE, JULY IS GONE! AUGUST IS ALIGNMENT MONTH July has been all sort of amazingly impactful journey for me with my connection to the UNDP Young Africa Innovate project under NEIP as am expert Over the month, I have engaged with 25 innovators with Various degrees of idea, passion and profession ready to Innovate and needed the guidance. This has been very valuable to my experience personally and the joy with seeing the innovators create something extraordinary. I have played my role at hapaSpace Collaborative Hub as the Marketing and Administrative Lead designing communication tool kits, coming up with Publicity check lists,reviewing communication and project documents, leading on mentorship projects among others in line with achieving the goal of the organisation to connect, grow and contribute within the entrepreneurial Ecosystem I didn't leave out Family, fun,impact and love. I must say overall, July has been good and August will be Great Yesterday I read a piece from Michael K. Adonteng and I believe I have my direction for the rest of the year. I summarise below : As a business person, make sure your purpose, profession and passion align. A Glance into how 2024 went. 2024 was a remarkable journey for us at Rèkool Access Technology as we participated in several prestigious programs and competitions that helped us grow, innovate, and connect: • Because International Accelerator Program: Under the mentorship of Joel Hillier, we gained invaluable insights into entrepreneurship and market positioning. • ClimateLaunchpad Nigeria: Emerging as the 2024 National Finals Winner, we proudly represented Nigeria in the Regional Finals for Africa & Asia Pacific. While we didn’t win, the experience enriched us with expert knowledge and connections across diverse sectors. • ClimateLaunchpad Mini-Accelerator: We were selected for this intensive program, further deepening our understanding of sustainable innovation. • Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP): We are being mentored by industry expert Mr. Emmanuel Odia in Business Development Management—a game-changer for our mission. • WIPO Green Innovators Program: Our dedication to sustainability earned us a spot in this prestigious program, fostering innovation on a global stage. • Jericho Businessmen Club Youth Innovation Challenge: We clinched 2nd place, presenting our groundbreaking solution alongside other inspiring youth innovators. At the heart of Kenya's Silicon Savannah, Konza Technopolis became a hub of innovation as President William Samoei Ruto officially commissioned the timbuktoo Africa GreenTech Hub and Africa’s first Regional Centre of Competence for Digital and AI Skilling. The hub launched with 43 founders from 14 African countries, selected from over 600 applications spanning nearly every country on the continent—a powerful testament to Africa’s entrepreneurial potential. Walking through the innovation floor, I was struck by the depth of ideas and solutions these entrepreneurs are building—businesses addressing critical challenges while unlocking job opportunities at scale. Their resilience and forward-thinking mindset reaffirm my belief that Africa’s next wave of unicorns and decacorns is on the horizon. This initiative underscores how targeted investment in digital skills and AI can drive Africa’s tech future, fostering sustainable development and global competitiveness.
