There’s nothing wrong with aggressive action… Or being decisive. In fact I think American companies could and should be more direct and decisive … if not aggressive in their actions. On the other hand… There are times when aggressive and decisive action is potentially disastrous. I’ve talked recently about how travel makes my soul happy. Being able to experience places like the Custer National Battlefield Menorial is a good example. Custer was famous for his charges. He also wasn’t known for thinking things through and getting enough information to make the right decisions. Thus on June 25th and 26th 1876 he ordered one of his lieutenants to attack an Native American village … splitting his force … getting ahead of his supply line … But this particular village happened to be several times larger than Custer thought. The result was less than a hundred cavalry against thousands of the best horsemen and warriors in the world, with repeating rifles…the plains Indian. And they had a grudge to settle. It wasn’t a good idea for the United States to abrogate a sweeping treaty in search of gold and tell the world about it (Custer did this) and it wasn’t a good policy to attack women and children. The result was a United Indian with a plan. Custer really didn’t have a plan. The only reason anyone made it out alive those two days was because the two commanders Custer left behind decided to be more cautious. As for Custer … A habit of impulsive errors ended his life…and everyone else he was responsible for. A controversial and unique battlefield because it’s the only place in the world where those who fell are buried where they fell. So the lessons are there for all to see. There’s plenty of justifications for being aggressive and for being cautious. How do you decide? The Left's inexorable assault on traditional values that we hold dear continues. In South Australia, the Labour Government has legislated a change to the name of ANZAC Day, retitling 25 April as a 'fixed public holiday'. In doing so, they have deliberately spat in the faces of every past and present Australian (and New Zealand) soldier, sailor, aviator and commando. People who have given so much, and in many cases, given everything, to keep their countrymen alive and free. It is a decision that is utterly indecent, cowardly, and insulting. Some people may well military rituals, symbols, and history as anachronistic. They may well even regard the existence of the military itself as unnecessary and unwanted. To them I quote R.S.M. Lauderdale, from the film 'Guns At Batasi'; "...And if it wasn’t for people like us, you wouldn’t be able to walk around spouting your smarmy, silly, bloody half-baked ideas”. You can pay people on fishing boats to do this with creative African thinking?? Plus if you read previous post about my upside down fishing net tearing Concept!! Just think what ever you dump in there including airplanes, should become a tourist attraction for diving?!! Dump a couple of air craft carriers decommissioned as environmental?? Only acceptable if all crapp taken out and sunk strategically on your coast line. Another thought!! Also this should create fishing without nets, at some point!! A Barrier REEF FROM JUNK!!

The cavalry is coming Recently an American friend told me an interesting story. In the early days when Westerners started arriving in America, tensions with the indigenous people were inevitable and frequent. Being outnumbered, these early settlers had to rely on cowboys trotting guns and riding on horses aka cavalry for protection. Hence, in moments of distress they often assured each other “the cavalry is coming”. Although those days are long over, hope is what keeps people alive in dire situations. On August 5, 2010, Chile's century-old San José mine caved in, burying 33 miners underground at a depth almost twice the height of the Empire State Building. Miraculously all of them survived the 69-day ordeal on the hope that help is on its way. But “the cavalry is coming” also begs two questions. The first is what if the cavalry doesn’t come or it comes too late? There is a Chinese saying (远水救不了近火) which points to a simple truth: when a house is on fire one can’t rely on help coming from far away. Hence, it is critical to build individual resilience. The second question is this: can we be the cavalry that someone is waiting for? If so, are we willing? What are we waiting for?

Lying on the seabed in the Pacific Ocean are oil tankers, fighter aircraft and warships from Japan and Allied powers that went down as a result of ferocious battles 80 years ago. Experts estimate there are more than 3,000 wrecked vessels scattered across the Pacific Ocean, with around 1,000 of those in waters in the Melanesian and Micronesian regions, near island nations such as the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Palau and the Federated States of Micronesia. https://lnkd.in/dE9Npn3x
