This is video 5 in our 5-part series exploring the key principles of high-performance Passive House design. In this final episode, we’re focusing on the windows and how they help keep out air and sound. Passive homes utilize triple-pane, high-performance windows that are expertly sealed to prevent air leaks, drafts, and noise pollution. These windows play a vital role in maintaining the home’s energy efficiency by providing superior insulation, keeping the interior cozy in winter and cool in summer. Not only do they create a quiet, peaceful indoor environment, but they also enhance the overall comfort and sustainability of your home—proving that Passive House design is as practical as it is innovative. #PassiveHouse #SustainableLiving #TheCatskillProject #EcoLuxury #FutureLiving

ENERGY SAVING, SIMPLE IDEAS I have been updating my Glazing knowledge lately as it relates to building design. I have heard several times mention of using a smaller room in the house to close off and heat or cool, especially when everybody is at home and huddled together. Why heat or cool the whole house? This is very smart thinking and something Europeans have probably been doing since discovering a cave. If you watched the “Out of Darkness” movie recently, you will know what I mean. Australia has not done well in designing buildings' thermal performance. Our resident Swiss Designer, Caroline, will tell you, “The doors are ridiculous!” Growing up, I had a friend whose parents were German. They had converted one of the small bedrooms into a lounge room, and we would all sit in there warm and cosy and watch TV. I thought they were very odd. Now, it makes sense. This is a handy tip for saving energy! Convert a small room into a family space, or consider how areas can be closed off when designing an open-plan. #INTERIORDESIGN #SAVINGENERGY #GOODDESIGN #SPACEPLANNING #ENERGYEFFICIENTDESIGN #GREENDESIGN
