One of the reasons I hate people sticking the boot in to the recruitment industry is that it's such a hard job to do well - and it's complicated too! I'm putting a training course together for my staff at the moment on 'terms of business and commercial awareness' - not the sexiest subject perhaps, but here are just a few things that I'll be covering, because recruiters (especially contract recruiters) really ought to be up to speed on them: AWR (Agency Workers Regulations) Conduct of Employment Agencies & Businesses Regs (and opting out) IR35 / Off Payroll GDPR Working Time Directive Equality Act & lawful advertising Liabilities (including that old favourite vicarious liability!) Key Information Documents IDVT You really do need to know about a whole lot of stuff - and that's before you even pick up the phone or tap out an email to a prospective client, contractor or job seeker.
