Building More Than Just Another Entrepreneurial Program: Join Us in the Big Give Yesterday, I shared how stepping into self-promotion can be hard for women. Today, I want to spotlight what makes Emerge and Rise, Inc different and why tomorrow’s Big Give is so crucial. We aren’t just another entrepreneurial program. At Emerge and Rise, we’re hands-on, hyper-focused, and deeply committed to the entrepreneurs we serve. Our mission touches every facet of small business ownership—financial literacy, digital literacy, mental health wellbeing, and providing free, personalized business advisory through an incredible network of mentors. We don’t just talk about helping entrepreneurs; we walk the journey with them, every step of the way. This approach is what sets us apart, but we can’t do it alone. We’re teaching our kids the value of money at home, and my five-year-old, Ezra, dreams of going to South America (probably inspired by Paddington Bear who came from deepest and darkest Peru!). He asks how he could earn money for the trip. It's Saturday - we can hear the roar of the football fans at the Hampden Stadium. Ezra asks if he can sell lemonade on the street. Not long now before the match ends. Not much time to get everything set up. He is disappointed. He wants to walk up the street and meet the fans passing by after the match. He asks if we can come with him. He musters up the confidence to ask a few fans: 'Will you buy my lemonade if I make some?'. They smile and say 'Of course'. He's going to be ready for the next match for sure! Moral of the story? First, the human impulse to create is universal. Second, the importance of community - none of us get to where we are without the aid of significant others. Third - just get started!
