There's a term used that makes me laugh from the depths of my belly. And those who are or have served in the Military have the same reaction paired with an eye roll that could give you a concussion. "Military Grade". Sounds pretty badass no? hard core, indestructible, strong, sturdy. *queue cackling hyenas in the background* Military Grade is the lowest bidder that can push out products fast enough to keep up with demand. It's not the best, most durable, strongest, or most efficient. It's the cheapest that the military can buy in bulk. Unless it's a toilet seat, in which case the Military will spend $3K on a toilet for a CO that's got a bidet and heated seat. Because officers' butts are sensitive. And if you think I'm being over the top, ask any purchasing agent from the Military how ridiculous the spending is in one arena, and how cheap they are in the other arena.

"Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment, or MOLLE (pronounced /xn--ml-8eb48b.xn--li-2pb/ MOL-lee,[citation needed] pronounced like the name Molly), is the current generation of load-bearing equipment and backpacks used by a number of NATO armed forces, especially the British Army and the United States Army. MOLLE uses the Pouch Attachment Ladder System (PALS) webbing equipment – rows of heavy-duty nylon stitched onto the gear – to attach equipment. This method has found use on civilian gear, and as a result, the term MOLLE is used outside the military for PALS-type webbing. The system's modularity results from the PALS allowing for the attachment of various compatible pouches and accessories. This method of attachment has become a de facto standard for modular tactical gear, replacing the All-purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment (ALICE) system used in the earliest modular vest systems, which is still in use with many police forces.[1][2] "

This is a great article that highlights the positive change within the EW field. I believe that there is need for exactly three lines of efforts to get us where we need to be. LOE1. Accept that we will never have Program of Record equipment in our field. We need kit but because of the fluid state of this field we will never be able to have that specific thing and that is ok. We need to focus on getting kit out to the force and be willing to innovate on the fly because the EW Community has done this for the last decade. We can succeed even if we dont have the m9999 ew laser listed with the supply system. LOE2. Complete overhaul and I mean overhaul of our docterine and the training every soldier through highest fieldgrade gets. We need adaptive innovated service members in our field. Gone are the days we were relegated to DTS or Schools NCO or Officer. Education for the warfighter that is not EW professional so they can understand the true battle of the EMS and its importants. Clear training within a denied and degraded enviorment. LOE3. Expand DOD research programs. Allow for the soldier who has spent at least 5 plus years on the ground to help develope the way for the future. This ties into LOE 1. We are evolving at a rate that is faster than any other occupational field in the Army and we still have a lot to do. Leaders young and old must push for the growth within the community. Eyes are on us now. We complained for years about being under utilized and now it is our chance to prove why we are right. #army #commandandcontrol #leadership #technology #beallyoucanbe #NCO #Officer #warrantofficer #cyber #technology #electromagneticspectrum #multifacetedleadership
The Army has drafted and presented new concepts of operations for its slew of electronic warfare equipment to senior leaders. After divesting much of its capabilities after the Cold War and lacking any program-of-record offensive or defensive EW equipment during the post-9/11 wars, the Army is now poised to begin fielding a raft of capabilities to its forces and formations. https://lnkd.in/ebwzNZPs

The U.S. Army's new 6.8 x 51mm caliber: A revolution in noise reduction and ballistic performance? The line of weapons for the new 6.8 x 51mm caliber will be delivered from the start with integrated suppressed barrels. This feature is considered a revolution almost as important as the introduction of the new caliber itself. This suggests that the significant reduction in firing noise represents a major improvement brought about by this new weapons system. With the adoption of the 6.8 x 51mm, the U.S. Army seems to have found an ideal compromise between the existing 5.56mm and 7.62mm NATO calibers. The new caliber combines the strengths of each of these previous calibers while compensating for their respective weaknesses. In summary, I just highlights the innovations introduced by the 6.8 x 51mm caliber. On one hand, the integration of suppressors allows for a noticeable decrease in noise during firing. On the other hand, the ballistic performance strikes an optimized middle ground compared to previous ammunition. This new weapon is presented as a major technological advance for the equipment of the U.S. Army. https://lnkd.in/gje5t35n
