Did you know September 22nd is dedicated to celebrating the achievements and contributions of women in the business world? This date marks the founding of the American Business Women’s Association in 1949, a key organization that supports women’s professional growth and achievements. The day is important because it honors the legacy and hard work of more than 68 million working women and 7.7 million women business owners in the United States. It recognizes their vital role in the economy and their contributions to various industries. Additionally, it shines a light on the need for equal opportunities and rights for women in the workplace, advocating for their growth, leadership, and national recognition. American Business Women’s Day also serves as a reminder of the progress made and the challenges that still exist for women in business. It encourages support for women entrepreneurs and professionals, highlighting the fact that women own 36% of small businesses worldwide, with a significant impact on the economy and society. Celebrating this day involves acknowledging the hard work of women in business and promoting further inclusion and advancement in the professional world. #womeninbusiness #americanbusinesswomensday #empoweredwomen #femaleentrepreneurs #womenwholead #womensupportingwomen #smallbusinessentrepreneur #womanownedbusiness #diversity #womensnetworking

On International Women’s Day, we are proud to shine a light on the incredible women who drive innovation and excellence at our company. 👩💼💪 In an industry where female representation is often scarce, PSM stands out as a company predominantly led by women. Representation matters because it contributes to deeper understanding, empathy, and inclusivity, and we hope to inspire this in our industry. The talented women on our team have undoubtedly grown our woman-owned small business, making us a leading expert in our field. It is an honor to work beside them, learn from them, and grow our business with them. We’re proud to inspire inclusivity and equality year-round as a certified Women’s Business Enterprise by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) -- an honor awarded to our Managing Member, Darlene McCord. The WBENC helps women-owned businesses thrive by providing programs, events, networking opportunities, support, and resources to address the challenges many women face in building and growing a business. Our company celebrates these successes and contributions every day, but we’re happy to take an extra special day to recognize and celebrate International Women’s Day. Week ✌🏼 International women's day! Women must support each other in various ways, fostering a sense of solidarity and empowerment. My experience and learning in the 1000 women leaders programme on: 1. **Mentorship:** Providing guidance and support to other women, especially in professional settings, can be invaluable. Sharing experiences and insights can help navigate challenges and promote career growth. 2. **Networking:** Connecting with other women and creating networks can open doors to opportunities. Networking allows women to share resources, advice, and contacts, fostering a supportive community. 3. **Advocacy:** Advocating for women's rights and equality on both personal and societal levels helps create a more inclusive environment. This involves standing up against discrimination and promoting fairness. 4. **Education:** Sharing knowledge and skills can empower other women. This can include mentoring in various fields, providing educational resources, or participating in programs that promote learning opportunities. 5. **Emotional Support:** Being there for each other emotionally is crucial. Listening, offering empathy, and creating a safe space for open communication can strengthen bonds and provide comfort during challenging times. 6. **Celebrating Achievements:** Acknowledging and celebrating each other's achievements helps build confidence and reinforces a positive mindset. Recognition boosts morale and encourages continued efforts. 7. **Challenging Stereotypes:** Actively challenging stereotypes and biases helps break down societal barriers. Encouraging a shift in perceptions contributes to a more inclusive and diverse environment for all women. Thank you #jombay#Hdfclife# “When everyone is included, everyone wins. Dechert’s Global Women’s Initiative (GWI) empowers women lawyers to succeed by fostering an environment that provides opportunities for development, advancement and leadership within the firm. In a continuation of our International Women’s Day and Women's History Month celebrations, we sat down with partners Shari Ross Lahlou and Carol Widger, who currently serve as co-heads of GWI, to capture their thoughts on the importance of “inspiring inclusion” across the firm, as well as how women can leverage inclusion in successfully building their legal careers. 🌟 How can firms be more inclusive? Shari Ross Lahlou: Creating an inclusive culture is an important starting point. That takes a lot of work by a lot of people and requires more than mere rhetoric. As the saying goes, it’s necessary to “put your money where your mouth is,” and incentivizing truly inclusive behavior certainly helps. 🌟 What efforts has Dechert made to be more inclusive of which you’re particularly proud? Carol Widger: An important part of the effort to be inclusive is women helping, supporting and inspiring other women. At Dechert we work hard to shine the spotlight on our women leaders in the firm and our senior women generously give their time to mentor, guide and share the benefit of their experiences with the next generation of women in the firm. On International Women’s Day, we come together to celebrate the strength, resilience and achievements of the remarkable and inspiring women within our networks and around the world. This year’s campaign theme is ‘Inspire Inclusion’, which emphasises the importance of diversity and empowerment, in all aspects of society, not just for today, but for every day that follows. “It calls for action to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create environments where all women are valued and respected. Inspire Inclusion encourages everyone to recognize the unique perspectives and contributions of women from all walks of life, including those from marginalized communities.” Two ways in which we can do this are through: 🔷 Diversity in leadership and decision-making positions “Women, especially those belonging to underrepresented groups, continue to face barriers when seeking leadership roles. By championing inclusion, organizations and communities can harness the full potential of diverse perspectives, leading to better decision-making and innovation.” We are seeing some progress in the Legal Industry, with several women being elevated in the last few years to top positions at leading law firms, but there is still some way to go. 🔷 Education and awareness Both “play vital roles in fostering inclusion and empowering women. Through initiatives such as mentorship programs, educational workshops, and advocacy campaigns, individuals and organizations can create opportunities for women to thrive. By providing support and resources, women can be empowered to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential.” https://lnkd.in/eHfiAf-B #internationalwomensday #inspireinclusion

Happy International Women's Day! Today, we celebrate the incredible achievements, contributions and resilience of women worldwide. This year the theme for IWD is “Inspire Inclusion” - When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world and when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment. This is a sentiment that resonates deeply with our About Face value of “Stronger Together”. We believe that unity, collaboration and inclusivity are not just words but guiding principles that shape our culture and drive our success. Although we are not short of women in our workforce, when we work together, inspiring inclusion and togetherness, ultimately achieving success will follow. So let's continue to support and uplift one another, celebrating our achievements and championing each other's successes. Here's to celebrating the remarkable women in our workplaces and our lives. Together, we are truly stronger. ❤️ Happy Women's Day.
