Universities might do marketing in such that they can prepare their students career ready and help their graduates get a job. But from a student's standpoint, when you ask for advice from course advisors, they would just advise you a very general and vague course plan that does not consider your real aspirations after graduation. So, in my opinion, instead of letting course advisor control what you should study, students should be in charge of what units or subjects they want to study. It is also not course advisors' fault when they have to deal with many students and cannot give students detail plan which is specifically tailored to students' goals strengths and weaknesses. Students' focused course structure would be a better option if universities are indeed in the best interest of students. What are your thoughts on this? #CQU #feedback #university #personalised #learning

Now that I have completed my studies as an undergraduate, here are some takeaways from my higher education until now.(These are just my observations. They can vary for you. Feel free to comment and interact if you wish to add to them.) 1. Extracurricular activities are incredibly important for overall growth throughout university time. Better networking, better communication and social skills can be achieved with the help of extracurricular activities 2. There is nothing as necessary as time management over a long period of time. Missing out on recreation or not being able to learn efficiently- these are the two common results of poor time management 3. There is no need to be a hardliner for the usual route of going to a university. Exploring new things and aspects is important. One should not believe that venturing out and exploring hinders your growth. On the contrary, it is one of the best ways to experience overall development during higher education 4. There is no room for inconsistency at any point of higher education. Consistency is the only way to develop skills nicely. Inconsistent and sudden bursts of growth seem good but are practically ineffective. Regardless of the speed of learning, it is always better to have a consistent method of learning with gradual progress

Hi! This is Undira University - Universitas Dian Nusantara ACC's first post! We'd like to share our thoughts regarding the importance of Alumni and Career Development in today's world. It's really important for universities to help students with their careers even after they graduate. With all the changes happening in technology, the economy, and how connected we are globally, universities need to do more than just teach. They need to prepare students for all the challenges they'll face in their careers. Career programs at universities are super important because they help students become well-rounded individuals. It's not just about getting good grades anymore. Students need to learn skills, build networks, and know how to find the right job. Universities can do this by offering career advice, mentorship, and workshops that teach practical skills. By doing this, they don't just prepare students for their first job, but also teach them how to adapt and succeed throughout their careers. Also, universities need to invest in these programs to stay competitive. Nowadays, people look at more than just a university's academic reputation. They want to see that the university helps its students succeed after graduation. A strong network of alumni who have done well in their careers shows that the university offers a quality education. By keeping in touch with alumni through events and projects, universities can show off their success stories and attract more students and support. The way we think about careers is changing too. Jobs are becoming more varied, and technology is changing how we work. Universities need to teach students not just technical skills, but also how to think critically, solve problems, and work well with others. These skills are essential in a world where jobs are always evolving. By encouraging creativity and entrepreneurship, universities can help students be ready for whatever the future holds. Even after students graduate, they still need support. Alumni networks are great for this. Whether it's advice on changing careers, finding a job in a new city, or understanding industry trends, alumni can offer valuable help. By building strong connections between current students and alumni, universities create a community that lasts long after graduation. In conclusion, we, as the Alumni and Career Center of Undira University - Universitas Dian Nusantara always try our hardest and hope for the best. By focusing on both areas, university can help students grow, improve their reputation, and make a positive impact on society. Career programs, mentorship, and alumni networks all play a part in preparing students for success in the ever-changing world of work. This way, universities continue to be places of learning and innovation, shaping the leaders of tomorrow. Best Regards, ACC Team

More than 1.5 million Indian students will go abroad to study in 2023. That's almost a 70% jump over last year. On estimate says they spent as much as $30 billion, of which $17.5 million was on college tuition. Clearly, where you go to study, and what jobs you land post college, are your top concerns when you're a student whose scraped together the every last resource to make this happen. Despite the growing demand for it, the study abroad sector in India wasn't really organised or transparent. A new slew of "edtechs" are trying to disrupt the space. They provide an end-to-end transparent service, use tech to simplify processes and basically become a concierge service for students who now pay one agency for the multiple things they need to do before they set off. It's a cool business model and digitisation is great and convenient. The question is--is this edtech? YES! say VCs who've found solace in the study abroad edtechs in their portfolio. They're willing to stretch and pull at definitions till they include this new sub-category of higher education. We're up to edtech 45.0 in India. But I argue it doesn't matter, till the tech is opening up doors for more and more Indians to study, learn and live the way they want. Read my take in this week's Ed Set Go. https://lnkd.in/e-TpGTh8 The Ken
Bharat’s edtech industry has a “study abroad” engine

Are you thinking of doing a master’s? Let me tell you the good and bad reasons for doing a master’s. 📚 Note that these are based on what I gathered from myself (my own experience on the job market), some managers, employees, and university professors. If you have different experiences, feel free to share and we can learn together. 🙌 Good reasons: ✅ You want to progress to PhD and become a university professor/researcher. ✅ You need a master’s to be promoted in your current work. ✅ You need a master’s for a specific type of work that requires a master’s. ✅ You are genuinely interested in the subject, and you have a goal in mind with what you want to do with the masters. Bad reasons: ❌ You take the master’s because of the hype, or someone said so (without concrete reasons.) ❌ You take the master’s because you think it will make you more employable for jobs that require a bachelor’s. ❌ You take the master’s because you think a master’s is equivalent to industry experience. ❌ You take the master’s because you want to show it off to your friends, peers, or family. Ultimately, it will be better to think things through before you decide to do a master’s. A master’s will cost a lot of money (if you are not taking scholarships), and a lot of time during the study period. 💭 #masterdegree #career #education #university #sharing #learning #share
