I Believe Juneteenth Should Be Massively Celebrated A day that echoes freedom, resilience, and hope deserves more than recognition—it deserves celebration. Juneteenth marks the end of one of the darkest chapters in history and the beginning of a journey toward justice and equality. It’s not just a day for Black history—it’s a day for human history. When I saw C&J Migrant Solutions Foundations announce this event, I knew I had to be part of this milestone in a meaningful movement. Without hesitation, I reached out and committed to covering the event, capturing interviews, and enjoying the experience. But for me, it was about more than just documenting the day—it was about being part of something impactful. Here’s why it matters to me: It celebrates progress: The fight for freedom was long and hard, but it reminds us of what courage and perseverance can achieve. It fosters unity: Juneteenth is an opportunity for all of us to come together, acknowledge the past, and build a future where freedom truly knows no boundaries. It inspires action: Honoring this day isn’t just about reflection—it’s about recommitting to the values of equality and justice in our everyday lives. Let’s make Juneteenth not just a day off, but a day on—a day to learn, to connect, to support Black businesses, and to celebrate the rich culture and contributions of the Black community. Today we held our local Scouts fair.Great turnout and brilliant way to bring communities together.These are events that build trust, bridge gaps and allow you to engage in a meaningful manner.I strongly feel more needs to be done to give resources to voluntary groups nested within communities to help share important health campaigns rather than expecting them to do so without monetary compensation. #bridgethegap#health#resources#equity#VCSE

A visitor levy will impact on residential experiences for those under 18s. How many can remember visiting Llangrannog with school or going on Scout or Guide camp somewhere in Wales? As Area Lead Volunteer for Cardiff and Vale, I am very concerned about how this will change the balanced programme we are able to offer our Scouts and also the Scouts visiting Wales from the other nations and from abroad. Scout Groups don’t charge or they try to keep costs to a minimum if using their own Scout Halls and night’s away in campsites, fields and recognised activity centres are always run as not for profit to keep the financial impact on families as low as possible. In the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act, there is a commitment to make people healthier but by adding an additional charge and an administration burden on the Scouting volunteers and the supporters of Scouting, we will reduce the opportunity for our young people to have the overnight experience where they can develop so many skills. In the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child we are required to ensure children participate and have a say in the things that affect them. I wonder how many children have been part of the Welsh Government consultation and understand that this visitor levy could impact their adventure experience. The Visitor Levy is worrying. Please consider writing to your local MS to ask for their support to raise the impact this will have on our young people and our future generations.

Hosting "Standing Up for Our Community," Jewish Family & Community Services East Bay's briefing one month after the 2024 election with our immigration legal leaders Reena Arya and Sarah Gakenia Cleveland and Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies director of public policy and advocacy, Jonathan Schrag has been a way for us to turn knowledge into power for community action. Takeaways: - Proposed federal policy changes will have real consequences for our economy, our neighbors, our own families. - Low-income, older adult, and immigrant members of our community are likely to experience negative effects of proposed changes most acutely. - Policy changes may present new opportunities to support community members and new ways for our state, regional and city governments, businesses, and nonprofit ecosystems to step up. - There are opportunities to take action with JFCS East Bay.
