Celebrating International Mentoring Day: Building Futures Together at KAD 🌟 At KeolisAmey Docklands, we understand the transformative power of mentoring. This International Mentoring Day, we’re proud to highlight our mentoring programme, designed to foster professional growth, encourage collaboration, and support our colleagues at every stage of their careers. Mentoring at KAD is more than just guidance; it’s a shared learning and development journey. By connecting employees with experienced mentors, we create opportunities for skill enhancement, career advice, and personal support, helping each other thrive in their roles. KAD colleagues Delroy White and Nathan Smith share their experience as a mentor and mentee below! Nathan Winchester-Smith, Vehicle Maintainer: “For me having the opportunity to be a mentee has been one of the most powerful aspects of being on the ETP. It has required a lot of commitment to my development and a willingness to step outside my comfort zone to grow. Growth is a continuous process and being a mentee has given this process more structure and direction. I have found that having this mentor/mentee relationship has fostered a safe environment that empowers me to succeed and become an active participant in my development, willing to make mistakes and reflect on them constructively to improve. After being a mentee for six months I now find myself asking more of the right questions, reflecting on my own decisions, challenging when appropriate and overall becoming a more confident individual who seeks more opportunities and knowledge to broaden my worldview. I would encourage everyone to seek a mentor at some point in their career as I have found it instrumental in challenging myself both professionally and personally.” Delroy White, Acting Head of Train Services: “As a mentor, it is a pleasure to support and guide a Mentee’s development. A two-way relationship is created that is of mutual benefit where both sides learn fresh perspectives. When genuine interest, empathy and effective listening are used, it creates a stronger mentor/mentee relationship. As a way of paying, it forward, I have guided and coached Mentee to adjust qualities and recognise opportunities and obstacles on their journey to achieve their results.” Whether starting your career or looking to take the next step, mentoring offers invaluable insights and a strong foundation for success. Together, we’re creating a culture of continuous growth and mutual support that benefits our entire team. Here’s to empowering each other and shaping brighter futures, one conversation at a time! 🌍✨ #InternationalMentoringDay #ProfessionalGrowth #TeamKAD #MentorshipMatters
I am delighted to see your progress Delroy - you will be an awesome mentor! Well done!
I know you’ll be a great mentor Delroy, you’ve always had others interests and well being at the heart of all you do. I too have mentored with Women in Rail and initially I wondered what I could bring to the role and then it turned out to be one of my favourite things I’ve done in my rail career so far.
