As another summer comes to a close (not sure how that happened?!), I wanted to take a moment to recognize the interns from our Kohler Digital team. This impressive group was spread throughout the organization, working with our Cloud, Infrastructure, Digital Workplace, Data & Analytics, Project Management, Digital Experience, and Change Management & Communications teams. When they joined, we had just finished one of our biggest initiatives – establishing Kohler Energy as a stand-alone business. These young professionals came into this recently changed environment and dove right into their highly impactful work, bringing new perspectives and ideas. Our interns are never here for busywork or to have an easy summer – they are each expected to own specific projects, be fully involved in enterprise initiatives, and are integral parts of their teams. After hearing their end-of-summer presentations, it’s evident that their contributions will resonate long after they’ve returned to their studies. A big thanks to each student who was with us this summer and that helped create energy and excitement for our teams (and huge thanks to each manager, the mentors, and our Early Talent leader - Travis Greenlee). From the stories and pictures, it seems like everyone involved got so much value and enjoyment from the time together. If you’re looking for an internship with a bold and innovative company, keep an eye on Kohler’s career pages – and look for us on campus - because recruiting for next summer’s class is just around the corner! #Kohler #BecomeMore #BoldBeginnings

[They finally mustered up the courage to invite me to lunch] - Recently, I had the pleasure of engaging with three of our project interns: Jia Sheng, Ee Hang, and Ryan. Interestingly, they're only a few years older than my eldest son. I admire their initiative in seizing the opportunity to ask questions and engage in meaningful conversation. One of the first questions they posed was about the pursuit of advanced degrees like a Master's or even a PhD. I shared my perspective that while such degrees can indeed open doors, it's ultimately how one applies their skills and knowledge that matters most. Personally, I believe pursuing further education is valuable if the opportunity arises, especially if financial concerns are not a barrier. Our conversation also touched on the challenges faced by the new generation, a topic that hits close to home as a parent myself. I expressed my concerns about how the comforts of modern life may inadvertently impact their resilience and drive. It's something I believe many of us parents grapple with – we may inadvertently contribute to this by being overly protective of our children. Our conversation also touched on the journey from a junior professional to a managerial role, highlighting the gap in our education system. While theoretical knowledge is important, essential soft skills such as communication, leadership, and collaboration often lacks. As individuals progress in their careers, these soft skills become increasingly crucial in distinguishing one's managerial capabilities I was delighted to learn that the interns thoroughly enjoyed their time with us, especially during the festive celebrations and fun activities - kudos to our HR and organizing committee team members. From Christmas and New Year festivities to sports days and our annual dinner, these experiences not only provided valuable technical exposure but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and enjoyment among the team. It's my hope that by sharing these thoughts, I can provide guidance and assistance to students and young professionals alike. As we bid farewell to the lunar year, I take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous Year of the Dragon. 收工-龙来了! 🐉 #solarvest #energisingthenext #internshipprogram

This summer we have 10 wonderful summer associates that have joined us for 10 weeks. The Summer Associates this week got to meet all other summer associates at Capital Group for a summit. We were having so much fun we didn't get a chance to take too many pictures and the one group picture we did take we are missing one of the Summer Associates :). More pictures to come throughout the summer. The Summer Associates heard from many senior leaders and during our business breakout session we spent time with the equity trading team understanding how that part of our business operates. We then had a trading floor tour and learned a lot about Capital Group. The Summer Associates are working on awesome projects and teams. They are working on Smart Automation, Data Engineering, Back-office Accounting Systems, AI and Testing, Investment Group Product Management, Architecture, Client Engineering, Investment Research Tech, Cloud, Networking and Sales and Investment Services to name a few. My Consulting Journey as an Ex-Engineer After 23 months of experience in tech, I was unsure if I had what it takes to thrive in consulting - one of the most competitive industries out there. But my summer internship at Accenture Strategy & Consulting IMU as a Strategy Analyst has been an incredible rollercoaster, with each day bringing new learning opportunities. Here are some key takeaways (specifically for engineers looking to make the switch): 1. A quick solution outweighs a perfect one (sometimes): We engineers, often tend to prioritise precision. However, consulting has taught me the importance of balancing speed with effectiveness. 2. Keep it simple, silly: Complex data models and intricate ML algorithms aren't always necessary. Simple and scalable approaches often yield the best results. The real challenge lies in making the most of your insights, not just generating them. 3. Proactive v/s Reactive: In the consulting world, being prompt is everything. Whether it's following up on small tasks or leveraging client relationships to expedite processes, getting the work done is the name of the game. I would like to thank Swapneela Biswas, Antariksha Ganguly, Pallavi Saboo, and Sakshi Adenwala for giving me this opportunity and guiding me throughout the way !

Also - 4. Communicating your solution is sometimes more important than the solution itself: If no one can understand your solution, then i) it won’t gain traction and ii) your solution will never improve (and your solution can always improve :))

Finance Intern at Werfen | MS in Quantitative Finance Student @ Northeastern University, D’Amore-McKim School of Business
Internship Milestone 🌟 Reflecting on the past two months, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with eight brilliant interns from various departments at Werfen North America. Together, we worked diligently to craft and present a Value Proposition of cloud migration. As our time with Werfen comes to a close, we reached a significant milestone by successfully delivering a pivotal presentation alongside Mary Choe, Sophia Hann, Eli Morton, Jarret Niedosik , Lauren Infantine, Daniel Hasan, Julia Pak, and Anthony Szeto. Our focus was on articulating the business case and underlying technical and financial benefits of transitioning to a cloud-based approach, aligning with our long-term strategic goals. Highlights - Technical Analysis: We began by clearly explaining cloud solutions, demystifying them to showcase the efficiency gains they offer. Financial Analysis: We conducted a thorough cost-benefit analysis comparing cloud solutions to our existing on-premises infrastructure. This analysis provided detailed insights into financial implications, highlighting potential savings, economic gains, and long-term value additions associated with transitioning to the cloud. External and Internal Perspective: We presented a strong business case for the strategic growth and competitive positioning that cloud solutions offer, resonating with senior management, stakeholders, and end-users alike. Case Studies: We analyzed competitors who have transitioned to the cloud, providing valuable insights into best practices and potential pitfalls. Conclusion - Beyond receiving positive feedback, this experience was truly rewarding. It offered me valuable exposure to key senior management across various departments within Werfen North America, providing me with deeper insights into the medical device industry and the high standards Werfen upholds. This initiative taught me the importance of evaluating a proposal from multiple perspectives—technical, financial, commercial, and end-user value—to ensure its success. I learned how strategic technological advancements can establish new benchmarks for operational efficiency and market leadership, highlighting the critical role these elements play in maintaining competitiveness while preserving customer trust and goodwill. A huge thank you to my incredible mentors Annie Lopatin, Abhay Sharma, Katherine Olson and Alberto Gomez and points of contact at Werfen North America. Your guidance, support, and insights were invaluable throughout this journey. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such impactful projects. #SummerInternship #InternProject #Teamwork #BusinessCase #CloudTechnology #FinancialAnalysis #Collaboration

Why is our internship program so successful? Years (and years) ago I experienced, as an intern, what an incredible internship program can and does look like thanks to Yahoo, Dan Rosensweig and Hobart and William Smith Career Services. Their program was so impactful, it influenced the way we've built out a robust (for our size) and successful internship program. Not only have we hired incredible interns upon graduation in the last two years, we consistently hear great feedback, “When I speak to my friends [about their internships], even the ones at well-known, prestigious companies.. I’m learning 10x more and actually enjoying work everyday.” So what makes it so successful? 1. Long before a job description, the foundation for a successful internship is laid by hiring managers who are 100% bought in and excited for an intern. Their investment in an intern is extensive, there’s no denying that, so first and foremost it’s up to them to want the challenge and reward (i.e. developing a student into a professional). Get manager buy-in! 2. We treat our interns like full time employees (seriously), meaning their responsibilities have real impact and weight. We're welcoming them into a culture of trust and high performance, so from Day 1 we're emphasizing their agency, allow space for failure and supporting them with a lot of coaching. 3. We *genuinely* want them to be incredibly successful regardless of an Aircapture job offer. Want to go into aerospace instead? Maybe we don't have a job opening for them. We ensure they have everything they need to land their ideal job upon graduation. This requires project alignment from managers, extra training from the People team (LinkedIn, time management and presenting, etc.) and we extend our assistance even after they've flown our coop. Interested in joining our team? Our internship program is closed, but you can check out our other opportunities here: https://lnkd.in/g-6HXyun #climatetech #hiringnow #directaircapture #womenengineers #societyofwomenengineers #womeninclimatetech
