In our ongoing efforts to empower our community and promote environmental sustainability, we co-hosted the "Upcycled Kalimbas Workshop" with HK Timberbank. This innovative initiative saw our dedicated volunteers repurpose recycled Acacia Confusa wood, collected from Tsing Yi, into beautiful crafted Kalimbas. These handcrafted musical instruments were then gifted to 15 underprivileged children, providing them with a unique music experience through a free music class. This endeavor beautifully blended our sustainability efforts with our passion for fostering learning and creativity. It was a heartwarming experience to witness the joy that these musical instruments and the opportunity for music education brought to the children. #KerryProperties #Sustainability #CommunityEngagement #MusicEducation

It's Filipino American History Month! Here's to those who came before... and paved the way. Read the overview from the post below from UP Alumni Association in America, Inc. PRO Lisa Boquiren.
October is Filipino American History Month (FAHM), as declared by the 103rd United States Congress in 2009. It commemorates the arrival on October 18, 1587 of the first Filipinos in the United States in the area now known as Morro Bay in California. Nearly 390 years after this arrival, another consequential event took place: the final eviction at the International Hotel (I-Hotel) on August 4, 1977, at 3:00 am, led by 400 riot police. Home to low income Filipino and Chinese seniors (and other residents), I-Hotel was located in a once-thriving area called Manilatown, which was then transformed by the city's initiatives. (The nearby Transamerica Pyramid was completed in 1972.) If history is indeed written by the victors, then perhaps music can be a way to remember, and retell. In this spirit, I invite you to take a listen to the instrumental piece I-Hotel at the 1:40:40 mark. It was composed by Art Khu and peformed by him (piano) with Ryoma Takenaga (bass) and Elé Salif Howell (drums) at Bird & Beckett Books & Records. A Filipino-American jazz pianist, multi-instrumentalist, arranger and teacher, Art attended Yale School of Music and graduated from Oberlin Conservatory. #FAHM #FilipinoAmericanHistoryMonth #InternationalHotel #Manilatown

👫Connection is the pulse of our shared human existence. It goes beyond solitude, nurturing understanding and camaraderie. In a world full of opportunities, the value of authentic connections cannot be emphasized enough—it's the thread knitting us into a tapestry of shared moments and impactful relationships. 🎶Musical games and music provide a harmonious avenue for connection. They transcend words, creating a shared language that unites individuals through rhythm and melody. Whether through collaborative gameplay or the collective experience of listening, these musical interactions forge bonds, fostering a unique connection that resonates beyond spoken communication. #ImprovisedEcho is a captivating journey where connection flourishes through musical games, spontaneous improvisation, shared laughter, and the universal language of music. In this harmonious space, participants engage in a dynamic interplay, creating melodies that echo the joy of the present moment. Through the fluidity of improvisation, bonds strengthen, laughter becomes a shared rhythm, and music becomes the unspoken bridge that connects hearts and minds in a unique and uplifting experience. 🎙️The teacher is Simona, a classically trained, professional soprano and have the master’s degree at The National Academy of Music Gheorghe Dima. 🔎Trial lessons: 30 min, 10 € / student (incl. vat). 🔑My premise is at Soukankuja 12 F, ground level. https://lnkd.in/dZjEi-Zg • improvisedecho@gmail.com • Puh./Tel. 040 250 7193 https://lnkd.in/dYmEvh-8 • https://lnkd.in/dcM7u-Wy
