Some inspiring words from Mark Carney in his speech below. Canada needs more of this, not less. Hope, vision, clarity of purpose, and experience to get it done.
As a Canadian abroad I can only hope that we see not only strengthening in vision at home, but that we once again find our place and our voice in the world. We lack for nothing in our country, yet somewhere it feels like we have lost our focus. We were always a land with a strong social safety net, a clear moral compass, welcoming to all, and a nation of abundance. Today, we are leaving people behind, our middle class is losing strength and hope, we see immigrants leaving, and stories about our world-class healthcare system no longer meeting the needs of the population at a basic level.
We face a decisive decade ahead for Canada. It will take strong leadership, fresh vision, and a coming together of public and private sector players to move from concept to reality. I hope our country finds the right team to take on the challenge.
“Canada is a middle power. If we’re not at the table, we’ll be on the menu,” said Mark Carney at this week’s #USCanadaSummit.
“Question is: being at the table, what’s our recipe?”
