Heading to MRO Americas and thinking about the critical shortage of mechanics in the aviation industry. With multiple companies starting apprenticeships and homegrown mechanic programs, it's clear that the industry is taking this issue seriously. But what about retaining these technicians? Let's start a conversation about how we can better support and retain the talented mechanics that keep our planes in the sky. #MROAmericas #aviationindustry #mechanicshortage #retentionstrategies

Saw this in my feed this morning and after personally attending MRO Americas last week I can say that Dave Cook is saying exactly what everyone else at MRO was saying... We had one person come by the booth last week and say "We are so desperate for technicians that we are bringing in people with any kind of hands on experience for interviews." This company was interviewing candidates with auto repair experience, diesel technicians, previous trade laborers like electricians, plumbers, and HVAC all to try and reskill them to be aircraft technicians. There is in fact a way that you can train new employees faster, better, and for less than traditional methods. Scope AR Worklink is the way. #techshortage #upskilling #retraining #MROAmericas #Worklink #training

Our Safford, Ariz. site recently introduced a new in-house apprenticeship program that brings greater flexibility and tailored instruction, starting with the first cohort of 18 trainees. The program, which has been a year in the making, empowers employees to grow their skills right where they work, fostering a deeper connection to the mine’s operations and its future. Apprentices can choose from among three training paths — heavy equipment maintenance, fixed plant maintenance and electrical maintenance. This is what EASA member Justin Hatfield CRL, CMRP of HECO says about the Electromechanical Repair Technician (ERT) Program: "The ERT program has already become a crucial part of our training program. Although we have a formal US DOL-approved apprenticeship program, the ERT supplemented our classroom training without requiring us to develop the content ourselves. The cost EASA charges for this is virtually nothing compared to what we would have spent to develop the program ourselves. This is just another great example of EASA value!
