While browsing online, I came across a puzzling post from an electrician who, due to improper steps, ended up with a wire crimp resembling a twisted shrimp. Confused and seeking answers, he turned to the online community, questioning whether the issue was due to poor wire quality or operational error. Here are some key insights from the discussion: ✨ Electrician A: "When the correct die isn't available, I use a slightly larger one and fill gaps with copper strands. After crimping, check the connection by pulling firmly." ✨ Electrician B: "Key problems might include uneven crimping, mismatched wire and terminal sizes, or sharp edges left unprocessed." ✨ Electrician C: "A thinner copper tube might cause this. If the crimp wings form properly, it shouldn't affect the connection." ✨ Electrician D: "Excessive hydraulic pressure can deform the crimp. Multi-strand wires rarely fit perfectly—filing the edges can help." ✨ Electrician E: "The wire diameter might be too small for the terminal. Using a terminal one size smaller ensures a tighter, more compact crimp." What do you think of the electrician crimping the cable into a mantis shrimp shape? Welcome to discuss in the comments section! #Cable #wire #electrical #eaton #asbeam

Did you know, mini-split installation already meets code with the all-in-one Duckt-Strip® cable in every U.S. state? Electrical Inspectors prefer Duckt-Strip® cable for mini-split installations because it puts all of the wire that meets or exceeds code into one convenient cable that can be quickly & safely stripped without the use of strippers or knives. It is essentially a “no-brainer’ for Inspectors and it should be for installers too. https://lnkd.in/euk_Xwds #electrician #electrical #construction #contractor #electricianlife #electricianproblems #electriciansofinstagram #wiring #electricity #electricalcontractor #electricalwork #electricalsupply #electricalsafety #electricalprofessionals #electricalinspector #ufbcable #ducktstrip #nhcontractors #nhelectrician #electricalservices
