Want to learn more about ketamine therapy before you start treatment? Learn how and why this novel therapy can be so powerful. Here are a few of our favorite books on the topic: 1. "The Ketamine Breakthrough: How to Find Freedom from Depression, Lift Anxiety, and Open Up to a New World of Possibilities" by Dr. Mike Dow and Ronan Levy. This book offers an overview of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and its potential benefits for mental health. 2. "Ketamine: Dreams and Realities" by Karl Jansen. This book explores the science and history of ketamine, detailing its use in treating depression and other mental health conditions. 3. "The Ketamine Papers: Science, Therapy, and Transformation" edited by Phil Wolfson and Glenn Hartelius. An anthology of expert contributions discussing the therapeutic applications of ketamine. 4. "A Dose of Hope: A Story of MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy" by Dr. Dan Engle and Alex Young. While the book's focus in on MDMA, it also covers the broader context of psychedelic-assisted therapies, including ketamine. #KetamineTherapy #DepressionRecovery #Books #MentalHealthAwareness #MentalHealthJourney

Therapy isn't a cure that fits neatly for everyone. The whole "Is therapy for everyone?" question feels like exploring grey areas. I remember this debate in my circle. One friend swears by therapy. It's like a weekly recharger for her emotional batteries. On the other side, another friend thinks it's overrated, claiming he finds peace in a good gym workout. It got me thinking, why is there this pressure for therapy to be the end-all solution? Sure, therapy offers valuable insights into life's challenges, improving mental health, and fostering self-awareness. Like, imagine you're dealing with anxiety, a therapist can help you with that. Brilliant! But what about people who feel good after indulging in different activities? F And let's not pretend, therapy can be pricey. Not everyone can spend money on a weekly therapy session. Does that mean they're left out of the mental health loop? Then there's this stigma. I've heard people say, "If you're in therapy, you must be messed up." Seriously? I guess what I'm wrestling with is this idea of pushing therapy as a one-size-fits-all solution. #psychology #psychotherapy #mentalhealth

New Blog: WHY IT IS SO IMPORTANT NOT TO SELF-DIAGNOSE IN PSYCHOLOGY We live in a world with considerable information right at our fingertips. We can find information on nearly anything, especially in the medical field, where we can find the symptoms of the most obscure diseases or learn details about treatments otherwise only provided by those with Ph.Ds. But this information can cause its own challenges. Most of us are familiar with what was once called the “WebMD Effect,” where a person convinces themselves they have a rare disease because their symptoms match what they find online, only for it to be something like the common cold. Mental health can be similar, though the risks are different. Depending on your symptoms, you may be able to figure out what condition you struggle with – for example, if you have panic attacks, and the symptoms match, you probably have panic disorder – but self-diagnosing carries its own unique risks, which is why it is so important to speak with a professional. >>>Read more of this blog on the Flourish Psychology website: https://lnkd.in/dTMDaDEY . #onlinetherapy #goals #insecurity #mentalhealthmatters #TheraTea #trauma #healing #life #flourishpsychologynyc #couples #couplescounseling #newyork #nyc #newblog #blog #treatment #cbt #therapy #psychology #diagnosis

Trauma is not about something that happened, it's about how our nervous system and body remember it. Our symptoms are diverse: from body aches and pains, to negative self-beliefs, to extreme emotions or behaviors. Trauma can be treated through various healing modalities - but if the body is not brought into the process, at some point we will find ourselves circling the drain. Our highly skilled practitioners posses advanced skills and training to help rebalance the nervous system after traumatization. Such methods, like EMDR, IFS, Art Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, or Somatic Movement Therapy, reduce the overall time that folx spend in therapy, helping them reconnect to themselves sooner. Healing is a continuous process. When we experience trauma or distress repeatedly, our nervous system can become dysregulated, which can impede our natural healing processes. This is why creating a safe and supportive environment is essential for individuals who have experienced trauma.
