Time to get rid of boring RV placements! ❌ Many rewarded video placements work in every game. Currency multipliers, revive button, or upgrades, to name a few. But even though these placements remain “safe bets,” seeing them everywhere can tire players and decrease their engagement. Creating innovative RV placements, tied to a game’s specificities, is a great way to generate curiosity and make rewarded videos more appealing. That’s gamification 🎮 In Divineko, some of our top-grossing rewarded video placements are gamified. Chests work particularly well 🧰 Players are introduced to them early in the game through the shop. They can open one chest per day for free, but there’s a little twist. In order to unlock the chest, they must draw 3 signs in less than 3 seconds. The process is fun, and players can repeat the experience after watching an RV. Later in the game, users enter a chest room that’s unlike any other. They have only a few seconds to open as many chests as possible by drawing the signs displayed on each of them – a process they’ve already been taught earlier. In both cases, the “drawing” mechanic used to open chests is the main mechanic of the game, also used to fight enemies. Opening all the chests in one go is extremely challenging, and most players don’t make it… But thankfully, they can watch an RV to get more time, open the remaining chests, and collect all the rewards! Gamifying rewarded video placements turns a daunting experience into a fun, positive one that betters the user experience. Such additions have not only improved ad revenue, but also Divineko’s rating on the Google Playstore (4.8/5 ⭐). Have you tried gamifying a rewarded video placement? What were the results?

And one aspect of this is the characteristics that represent a player’s avatar. For reference in a traditional fantasy RPG, this would be the character’s strength, agility, wisdom and so on. In my RPG, for the moment, I’ve broken it down into a few aspects that represent the avatar’s knowledge, their ‘technical’ ability, how well they can deal with stress and their EQ. 🌟But I’d like to get some input from the collective. 🔝 Types of development in games and real-life: growth hacking principle 🔝 In game development, balancing the power of characters and players is crucial. Managing the speed of development is one of the key aspects in the early and mid-game stages. Here are three types of character development: 1️⃣ Progress 2️⃣ Regress 3️⃣ One-dimensional (Horizontal) 📈 Progress - This is the most popular type. Players perform actions and receive rewards. In the early stages, rewards are given for almost anything, sometimes even for minor actions like turning the camera or logging in. As progress is made, rewards diminish. This encourages players to strive for greater achievements. 📉 Regress - The reverse process. The most obvious example is when a character dies and loses some experience. However, there are other forms of regression. For example, if you invest in agility and hunter skills, you won’t be able to become a wizard and gain intelligence. This makes your choices significant and impactful. 🔛 One-dimensional Development - this is a less obvious type of development. It could involve taking on an additional character class that eventually equals the main class in power. This allows players to quickly unlock new mechanics and expand their gameplay options. A popular example is the sub-class system in Lineage 2, where leveling up a sub-class is faster than creating a new character, and managing resources on one character is more convenient. Did they miss their launch opportunity? --- 𝗜 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘀𝗼 --- 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 : It's a multiplayer simulator game. One of the players is the shark, and the other players have to survive and try to kill the shark. The game received a poor rating because it is not very well balanced. However, the core loop is set-up with a clear progression engine. • You can upgrade your boat / shark / weapon --- 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 --- Even with a poor rating at launch, it's a good launch. They launched a [BETA]. You are simply being played. Our lives are increasingly being gamified. If you want people hooked on something, then gamify the experience. But who's really in control - us or the game designers? The immediate rewards, unpredictable outcomes, and status keep us coming back for more, even when it's not in our best interests. Gamification has already become an innate part of our lives. It's easy to get caught up chasing arbitrary scores and badges while losing sight of what truly matters. We are not far from becoming like pigeons in a Skinner box, mindlessly pecking buttons for hollow rewards. Put simply, we try to measure what we value, but end up valuing what we measure. But it doesn't have to be this way. We can choose which games we play and how we play them. Here are 5 things to keep in mind. 1. Play the long game. Prioritize goals that will benefit you in the long run, not just give you a quick dopamine hit. 2. Being challenged doesn't have to threaten you. Easy games might be fun in the moment, but overcoming obstacles is what helps us grow and find fulfillment. 3. Seek win-win outcomes. Instead of competing against others, look for opportunities where everyone can benefit. 4. Enjoy the journey. Focus on intrinsic motivation and the inherent satisfaction of the activity, not just the external rewards. 5. Recognize what truly matters. The most meaningful things in life - relationships, experiences, personal growth - can't be quantified or gamified. One fact was overlooked in the Skinner's experiment. Skinner’s pigeons only kept pecking the button because they were trapped in a cage — they had nothing else to do. But you are still free.
