Do you have an app published in the Google Playstore or Apple App store? 🙋🏻♂️🙋🏾♀️ It's crucial that you're complying with their requirements for “in-app account deletion.” Otherwise you’re at major risk of your app getting kicked out! 👋 What is in-app account deletion? Put simply, it means consumers can permanently remove their accounts and associated data from a particular application or platform. How do you comply with the deletion requirements? For Apple, it's these three things: ‣ Must be easy for the user to find in your app ‣ Must offer to delete their entire account, and personal data associated (not just a temporary deactivation or disablement) ‣ Must inform the user on the process, for example how long the deletion will take to complete For Google, it's these: ‣ You must keep the user informed of their request status ‣ Let users know what to expect ‣ Complete their request “within a reasonably quick period of time.” How likely are you to have to worry about this? It depends. For some Ketch customers, we have seen an upwards of 100x increase in the number of delete requests after the adoption of the in-app deletion request from the Apple App Store alone. These account deletion requirements are prime examples of why modern privacy expectations require infrastructure investment. Privacy management technology like Ketch can help you outsource the challenging, complex work of fulfilling these delete requests at scale. #DataPrivacy #PrivacyTech #CPRA

📢 Important Update: New Google Play Store Rules 📢 Attention all developers and app enthusiasts! Google Play Store has introduced new rules aimed at enhancing user experience, improving security, and ensuring compliance across all applications. Here’s what you need to know: 1. Enhanced Data Privacy: New regulations mandate stricter data privacy measures. Apps must provide clear and comprehensive disclosures about data collection, usage, and sharing practices. User consent is now more critical than ever. 2. Updated App Metadata Requirements: Developers must ensure that app descriptions, titles, and promotional assets are accurate and not misleading. This helps users make informed decisions and promotes a transparent app marketplace. 3. Stricter Permissions: Apps requesting sensitive permissions (e.g., location, camera, microphone) will undergo more rigorous review processes. Developers need to justify the necessity of these permissions to align with user privacy expectations. 4. Security Enhancements: Google is enforcing stricter security protocols to protect users from malicious software. Developers are required to regularly update their apps to patch vulnerabilities and comply with the latest security standards. 5. Target API Level Policy: Apps must target a recent Android API level to ensure compatibility with the latest Android features and security updates. This ensures that users benefit from improved performance and security enhancements. 6. In-App Subscription Management: New rules aim to simplify subscription management for users. Apps must provide clear information on subscription terms, pricing, and cancellation processes, enhancing transparency and user control. 7. Monetization Policies: Google Play’s policies on in-app purchases and advertisements are being tightened to ensure fair practices and prevent deceptive or intrusive ad experiences. 8. App Quality Standards: Google is raising the bar for app quality. Developers are encouraged to focus on stability, performance, and user experience to maintain a high standard across the Play Store. Adapting to these new rules is crucial for maintaining your app’s presence on Google Play and delivering a secure, trustworthy experience to users. Stay informed and ensure your apps comply with these updates to thrive in the ever-evolving app ecosystem. #GooglePlayStore #AppDevelopment #DataPrivacy #Security #UserExperience #AppCompliance #TechNews #MobileApps

Why Data Privacy in Apps Is a Big Deal (and How to Make It Easy) Let’s face it: nobody likes feeling spied on, especially when using their favorite apps. That’s why 81% of app users prefer brands they trust—ones that deliver a “positive privacy experience.” In other words, users want to know their data isn’t being sold to the highest bidder or used to target them with weird ads. And if you think users don’t care, think again—40% of them have hit “delete” on an app because of sketchy data practices. Ouch! Here’s the good news: you don’t have to navigate the data privacy maze alone. Usercentrics makes it super easy to build trust with your users by ensuring their data is handled with care. So, not only do you keep your users happy, but you also avoid becoming part of that dreaded 40% statistic. Curious how Usercentrics can transform your app's privacy experience?
