One of our core values at Circle Beverage is that we “deliver on our commitments”. Simple to write, challenging to execute. In manufacturing we make commitments to our clients, to their customers (distributors, retailers, end consumers), to our employees, to investors, to regulators, to the communities that we operate within, etc. We have a long list of stakeholders, which means that several commitments are made and they don’t always align perfectly. However, this is what we must aspire to do day in and day out both in business and in personal life. Deliver on our commitments no matter how challenging it is to do so. I read this scripture over the weekend, posted in the image. When we say yes, make sure we deliver on that commitment. When we say no, make sure we deliver on it too. It reminded me that people have aspired to deliver on their commitments since the beginning of time. Bacardi promotes new leaders 👏 The global spirits company have announced two changes to its leadership team in the UK and Ireland. Steve Young has been promoted to the newly created role of Business Unit Director UK&I, he was most recently Senior Director for Western Europe. Amanda Almond has been promoted to the new role of Managing Director for Northern Europe having formerly served in the same role but for Iberia and Greece. Young commented: "My experience of working across Europe means I know better than ever what a tough and competitive market we have in the UK. Where Bacardi has an advantage is our family ownership. BRANDS ARE STILL IN THE HOUSE? Private label continues to grow and they are the game-changer of the grocery in Europe. Circana (MAT ending December 2023) is telling us that PL sold in the six main european countries 138,9 billion units for a value of 258,1 billion euro...How did it happen? It happened that the brands aren't acting like leaders, thought-leaders. It happened that retailers labels became by far more innovative, more sustainable and closer to the customers. On the other hand, the manufacturer, instead of being innovative, started the path of being a supplier and to follow.. really a strange story.. Nevertheless exceptions are still interesting stories to tell.. Should you pay a potential customer for the opportunity to sell to them? Actually this is not exactly what is on offer here ..it is actually the opportunity to meet the buyer, not sell to them In someways yes.... I think £490 (for yes that is how much the ticket costs) doesn't seem like a massive investment to get the full insight into a target customer's strategy and maybe meet the buyer to build the network But on the other hand, it doesn't feel ethical - charging potential suppliers for the opportunity to meet your buyers especially the smaller ones who add value to Ocado ranges with exclusivity. Doesn't seem right. Especially as it could be better invested in brand marketing. Remember £490 is a big chunk of cash! So do YOU pay to play in your industry?
